Encounter 1: (4) Modified Tar Jellies, CR 5

Encounter 2: (1) Modified Blood Slime, CR 5

Its a quiet day at the adventurers guild when jobs are slow but it is on this fateful day that Mrs. Blurpleberry rushes in, covered in floour and something red and in a frightfull hurry. "Will someone not help me?! Gustav! Please..." she pleads with anyone who will listen. Gustav Blurpleberry of course being the baker a few blocks from the guild who sells those famous chocolate cakes.

Not quite a proper job but this women is clearly in trouble! who wil answer the call? Who will rescue the baker and possible the chocolate cakes?!

Sigrid is an infrequent sight at the guild, her temple duties taking priority, but she's here now, and at the sight of someone rushing in clearly in distress, she'll come over quickly. "What can we do to help?" she asks sa she approaches.

The construct was directed to study and interface more with the local denizens. The recently reconstructed guild was a current logical choice, yet data collection was minimal. Until the arrival of an individual annointed with vegetable dust. "Directive: Provide situational details."

"Wait! I know you! The maker of blueberry pies, the legendary crafter of crusts!" The small gobber leaps to his feet as Mrs. Blurpleberry rushes in. His ears quiver with anxiety, and his eyes light with purpose, as he looks around, and then back to the woman. He straightens his back, and begins to poof out his warts, because this may be important.

Eirene is also an infrequent sight at the Guild, less temple duties and more contemplating her soul. However, one can only do so much of that before having to leave the dusty tombs and libraries, and get some clean air and light. The sight of the baker has her tilting her head a moment, then drifting over. There is a pause, as before she offers, with a bit of a smile, "What these fine fellows said."

Haggerty arrives from the services section, if it can be called that. He flashes an outgoing smile now that his clothes are clean again. The very small dog who waddles by his side pries the hall(s) from his low vantage. When the new arrival looks down after his study of the walls and ceiling, both view the stranger's rush. He ponders who Gustav is, but likely cannot know. What in the Hells and Abyss is chocolate? The other he has big cute eyes, but is not smart enough to process the data so the black pug scratches at the back of his left ear with a hundleg which results in a satisfied snort. The redheaded man steps forward and waves at the hurrying, exasperated woman, "Greetings!"

Sigrid looks alarmed at the mention of demons, though truthfully, a baker who's shut himself in the kitchen can't come to too much harm? But no, this is Alexandria, with otyughs in every sewer. "We'll come right away," she assures Mrs. B. "Please show us the way?" The gobber's eyes go wide, before heading that way. "Never fear, Mrs. Blurpleberry, she of the magnificent pies! You a fine lady, and we gonna help you!" he says. Then swipes a bit of frosting from the apron side, and pops it in his mouth. "Peach?" he asks around his fingers.

Eirene mouths 'Possessed by demons, hurt himself or worse' to herself, wondering what a baker could get into in his own kitchen that would be termed 'worse', but doesn't ask it outloud. There has been odder, one might suppose. "That is, well, worrying, I have no doubt."

MAC-B1G's optical receptors stutter momentarily. "This unit cannot parse the relation between food preparation and outsiders, but this unit can assist." The construct begins to step towards the one requesting aid. "Location of unit Gustav?"

Haggerty plucks a little critter from a corner, but then shows it to black companion who grunt-snorts with notions of disgust so the robed guy lets the diminutive being skitter away. The thin guy stand up again and nods slowly, "Mrs. Blurpleberry, please know that the guild and its members can in no way be held accountable for any damages which might happen in the pursuit of your husband's soundness. Please give us the kitchen key, if you have one, and wait out of harm's way once we arrive."

Mrs. Blurpleberry nods and pulls out a sticky key from a pocket and hands it to Haggerty "Here you go, its just a few blocks over, the Berry Bakery, please can you make sure he is ok?" sh says with a worried expression. Chach gets a nod and a weak smile. "I have been trying a peach cake."

"It is the most delicious peach cake I have tasted, pretty lady!" declares the gobber, and then looks to Haggerty, to lead them out. The eyes are a-Fire, in a way only a Ceinaran can.

Sigrid hurries out towards the bakery, now that we have the key, moving as urgently as the clumsy armor allows, hoping to get there in time to save the poor baker.

With partial directions given and the entrance key supplied, MAC-B1G tromps for the points of egress. Afterwards, it will accompany those familiar with the destiation to said destination.

Eirene follows along, more bemused than not, idly checking to make sure she has her normal gear with her. Then a pause, "... so, anyone a cook who knows what we might face? I, ah, burn water when I try."

Haggerty takes the key and dips his head respectfully, "Thank you! We will do our best, Mrs. Blurpleberry! See, even a divinely appointed sword maiden speeds to your husband's rescue." He smiles more, quite winningly so, pats the woman's back of her right hand before he motions at the canine, "Hurry, Kuno." Snort! Right after the two hustle on out right after, but not without grabbing a bundle by the door. "If it moves but should not, fight it."

MAC-B1G's faceplate rotates towards unit Eirene. "That is illogical. Water does not combust."

The Berry Bakery!

The Berry Bakery is a shop amongst a row of shops, a swinging sign advertising it as such. The key will get the adventurers inside where they can see several pies on the counter that dominated the center of the room, ready to sell and along with the famous chocolate cake. Each side of the room are dominated by cases featuring pies, pastries and breads of all sort and type. Save of course, anything with a jelly filling. What is worrying however is the door behind the counter, theres palpable waves of heat coming from the closed door, the edges of which seemed caked in some kind of red goo.

Sigrid heads immediately to the back door, with the edges caked in ... jelly? She'll move to try and get the door open and see what the cause of all this commotion is?

<OOC> Stirling says, "It appears to be stuck closed!"

<OOC> Sigrid sill try to force it?

<OOC> Stirling says, "Strength check please!"

MAC-B1G surveys the room simply, unaware of the potentional personal dangers from confections. The rear door and the heat plume are recognized as significant, however, and it approached after Sigrid. "Report status."

<OOC> Sigrid says, "24 with Feat of Strength"

"... it does when I try to make a pot of tea," Eirene points out, even if really, it's that the water evaporates, and then it's metal that starting to smolder. "Ah... Perhaps Master... ah, what was your name?" she asks Haggerty, a bit belatedly.

With Sigrid's titanic strength she is able to pull the door loose, breaking the jelly seal around the edges which gets sprayed across the room, catching the unwary followed by a wave of heat. However theres little time to consider that as a group of red piles of jelly slide out of the room at the adventurers!

Haggerty stretches in the nice weather and stands aside when it is clear the door cannot be opened. He looks at Eirene to reply cheerfully, "Not a master by all means. Please call me Haggerty. The name my parents gave me has vowels you will not be familiar with. What would be your name, please?" The little four legger jumps about for a bit, strangely high for a dog this short, then settle again while he wags his stumpy tail as tension rises.

Showing up WAY after anyone else. The wizard at the back places a hand on Chach's shoulder. "Hello again, little one. Use your fiery might to show these things to not harass our friendly bakers.

Chach's eyes go wide, and he stumbles backwards as ooze flies everywhere, rushing through the door like a giant, oozy wave! It sticks on his arms, his ears...and he does what any sane gobber would do.

He pops it in his mouth. "Overcooked strawberry filling!" he declares shortly thereafter. The gobber gathers himself, leaps forward, his body in a reverse-C. "Get back in that pie!" And with the wizard's magic, he hips-slams into the jelly!

The construct neither cooks nor eats, thus the strawberry ooze emerging through the doorway is unexpected. It takes a lumbering pace to the rear as the gobber slices at the material; the construct analyzes, collates. It also vocalizes. "Unit designate Gustav, report your location and status." That unit's condition remains the directive at hand.

I thought when she meant jellies, she meant like, I don't know, /jam/?" she asks plaintatively, before pulling out her rapier and going to assist the only one shorter than herself.

<OOC> Stirling says, "So one hit on Eirene." GAME: Stirling rolls 1d4+3: (3)+3: 6

The globs of jelly bounce at the adventurers that are attacking them and as well as MAC, whomever is nearest. They are icky and sticky and fruit flavored! The ones that were damaged seem to become a little more solid again after being chopped at and one managed to bounce in Eirene, leaving a large splotch of strawberry jelly on her clothes!

Chach's eyes light up as the magic swirls. He runs with it, leaping onto the ooze. He strikes its surface and then plants a heel, moving with a rapid, rapid beat. "Come on, you strawberry filling! Let's twist again, like we did last summer!" Ooze covers his bangles and brass, and he slides over the jelly as much as he collides with it. That's okay. He turns it into a moonwalk, schooping around in its gooey remains until he's opposite Eirene again. "Come on, pretty lady! Wizard say we gotta rock this town!"

MAC-B1G is again surprised when the presumed food is mobile, and apparently hostile. "Combat mode engaged," it announces, gems set into its armored frame glowing to life with diverted power. Heavily reinforced forelimbs are lifted and then brought down in rapid succession onto the puddle. This does not alter its consistency but does break cohesion and redistributes the volume rapidly about the room; its forelimbs, armor, ceiling, and nearby units are all spattered with reddish ooze.

GAME: Sigrid rolls 1d20+6: (1)+6: 7 (EPIC FAIL) <OOC> Stirling says, "Well one hit!" GAME: Sigrid rolls 2d6+9: (7)+9: 16 <OOC> Stirling says, "Its dead! And all over you and sticky and sweet!" <OOC> Stirling says, "Pose it!"

It is now Haggerty's turn! Eirene is next!

<OOC> Stirling says, "Haggerty! One left!"

Sigrid fights on amid the sweet confectionery. Hardly dignified, but that's hardly her first concern. She takes a splatter of fruit filling to the face, and it drips across her fierce mein as she drives her blade into the attacking jelly, twisting and tearing it until it stops moving. "It tastes good, though," she remarks.

<OOC> Stirling says, "Miss!"

Haggerty rinses by flicking the muck from the puny blade and repeats when there is enough astral energy focused once more to send the dagger out for another stab, twist and slice. It yields the same result as before which is better than nothing, at least. Kuno snarls adoringly.

<OOC> Stirling says, "Chach."

"Oh... yuck. Ah well - at least it isn't the usual," Eirene offers, with a bit of a grin, before it goes full-on, "Eirene, please. And anyone who throws the first stone is going to help replace any broken glass," she idly threatens with absolutely nothing behind it as she flips a bit of filling off her rapier. The attack has her grimancing before she offers a questioning "Shall we?", moving towards the only one left stan...er, oozing. A pair of swift slashes leaves the jelly only somewhat damaged.

It is now MAC-B1G's turn! Sigrid is next!

<OOC> Stirling says, "MAC!"

Having been prepared for this since this has happened before, Raethon uses a bit more flair for his spell, and points his staff at Sigrid. After a couple of words, Sigrid should be feeling a lot strenger than before.

"Don't you worry, pretty-lady-also-called-Eirene, Chach is hee--" and Chach misses his performance! He leaps, lands in the jelly and instead of a spin the gobber goes to the side. He turns it into a spin, but it's obvious this isn't intentional, and his great kite-ears are burning!

<OOC> MAC-B1G will attempt to move through the point of ingress, this time. <OOC> Stirling says, "Ok, you will have to move past the Jelly and get an AoO on you." <OOC> Stirling says, "Going to move then?"

<OOC> Stirling says, "Ok, pose going into the next room."

With the majority of the strange oozes dispersed, and the one remaining occupied by allied units, the construct moves into the other room. It is not without some risk, as it is splotche with more strawberry, and nod from dispersion.

Sigrid piroueetes gracefully, all things considered. All things mainly being a giant woman in clumsy armor. Anyhow, she spins and hustles to where the last of the jellies is fighting against her allies, and she swings overhand, forgetting herself, and her blade catches on the ceiling.

GAME: Stirling rolls 1d4+3: (4)+3: 7 GAME: You damaged Eirene for 7 points. 12 remaining.

In all the chaos the jelly keeps bouncing up and down, avoiding hacks and slashes in the sticky mess thats left of its comrads. It seems single minded however, or rather no-minded and bounces off Eirene again, glazing her further in sugary jelly.

Seeing that he's used all of the useful party spells he remembers, Raethon turns his attention towards the jelly. Snapping his fingers, he points his staff at the jelly, which fires three green balls at the jelly....doing a good bit of damage.

<OOC> Chach hooray! :D

GAME: MAC-B1G deactivates its Titan Armor. GAME: Stirling removes the timestop. Timestop by Stirling has left. GAME: You remove the timestop.

"If the good bakers pay, I am going to request in pies," Eir hisses, a touch pained, "Then give them out to the homeless - or the possessed, I don't care which at this point." Because really, she is a walking disaster of strawberry at this point. "Any sign of the mad baker?"

Chach slides along the trail of splattered ooze. The movement leaves a long, winding ribbon of gobber-toes behind and it's a moment before he can regain his composure. He does, mostly, with ears still burning as he leaps into the fray again! "Don't build me up, buttercup, unless you're going into pie!" he cries, and lands a dual strike, with the wizard's magic. Then slips, slides, like he did last summer, almost hitting the wall with the momentum. His small arms windmill to either side--only to be thrust upwards when he does regain his balance. "We rock this town, pretty lady and also random-construct!"

Sigrid looks around in here for the baker, digging through the gloopy filling in case he's underneath it all.

<OOC> Stirling will let everyone pose and then move into the next room.

"Is everyone all right?" Raethon says as he starts to sweep his staff from side to side, and trying to keep his balance by staying near the wall. "Baker! Call out if you can hear us!"

Haggerty strikes a mirthful mien. He is standing and not covered in sticky mass. Kuno sniffles carefully while looking up at the inexperienced wizard. The northman blinks and regards the others more fully, "I guess we should go in, right?" He clears his breath and says more loudly, "Mister Blurpleberry!?"

Finding nothing in the first room, she'll move to the back room, to see if the baker is there. Or more jelly golems.

The next room is dominated by a large oven and work table that the baker was working off of, however everything is in dissaray, flour, sugar and jelly everywhere. You do spot the baker though, laying unconscience in the corner and covered compeltely with grape jelly from head to toe. In addition theres a very ominous looking chocolate cake on the work table, it seems to have a... menace about it.'

Jelly squishes through gobber-toes as Chach recollects himself. "Hello, handsome construct!" he says to MAC, before looking to the wizard. He throws out his arms, "Thank you, great Boom-Boom maker! May She of Unintentional Explosions look upon you with favor!" he says. He looks towards the next room, then. And the baker unconscious.

In the dark chocolate cake, near the center are two red globs, clearly from where the baker must have injected the pastry with the jelly but both globs seems to move slightly, following the adventurs across the room as if watching everyone.

However once everyone is in the room the cake explodes! In a shower of dark chocolate cake it forms into a much larger jelly and blobs at the party! Piece of chocolate cake are stuck all across it and now, all over you!

With the giant charging in, the junior circled wizard has less options so he sticks to the tried and true manner of cutting into the trouble from the back. The dagger flies and grazes the dark thing. The pug squints.

Seeing the cake explode, Raethon knew they were in trouble. However, Rae stops and realizes that he doesn't have another haste spell memorized. he almost panics, until he touches his spellbook. Taking it off the chain, he opens it over his head.....and the pages immediately start to flip towards the page that haste is on, making his staff glow....and he stamped it on the ground....creating that same effect as before.

MAC-B1G turns as the cake...does not quite detonate, is sliced, and then adheres to a fellow unit. The cylindrical weapon on its scapular plate articulates up and over its pauldron, caught by one manipulator for support. The other attaches at the breech to provide power. GAME: Raethon casts Magic Missile. Caster Level: 5 DC: 16

<OOC> Stirling says, "Chach!"

Seeing Sigrid in trouble, Raethon snaps his fingers and points his staff at the jelly. Since the magic missile spell doesn't hit allies, the jelly gets three busts of force on it....splattering chunks of it off of Sigrid.

Haggerty projects the dagger physically with transformation magics and gets it back. He retains distance to the wrestling muck which smells sweet and somewhat earthly until the mage with the shock of braids flicks it off to where it lands near the curious Kuno who investigates.

Aided by the wizard's magics, Chach leaps hip-against the angry cake. He collides once, twice with hip, knee, thigh and forearm--a flurry of punches combined with a dancer's moves. ...a gobber dancer. Which makes it horrible. He lands in the remains of it, covered in cake and chocolate and good. "Praise the Great Boom-Boom, we offer this explosion to you!" he says, then pauses. "This delicious, chocolatey explosion! Ceinara be praised!"

<OOC> Stirling says, "Free RP"

Keeping his staff leveled at the splatter of cake, Raethon starts moving a bit further in. "Check the baker to make sure he's okay." He says to Sigrid. Of course it probably doesn't need to be said.

Sigrid pulls herself free of the goop and nods to Raethon. "Yes, I'm fine, thanks," she replies, pushing the worst of it away and going to check out the poor fellow.

The unconscience baker is a large man, with an enormous handlebar mustache to add but seems mostly unharmed. Appart form being coated in Jelly of course and quite out of it.

Chach scoops up some of the cake in long, gobber-fingers. He wriggles them with the goop on them, watching how the ooze-mix glops from slender finger to slender finger. "A thing of beauty," he breathes. He's caught up, quite entranced at the creation the baker managed. Even if it tried to kill them.

Haggerty's eyes glaze over. The pug crouches and facepalms with a forepaw. The smacking noises and the splatter alone prove the destruction of the troubled pastry or dessert. Would the baker make licorice pie? Salted, of course! The pale man coughs because of the heat, thumbs up vaguely in the direction of Sigrid and carries the little friend to where the senseless Mr. Blurpleberry lays so his state can be found out.. He takes care while wading with his eyes shut until the man can be examined.

GAME: Haggerty rolls Heal: (10)+1: 11

Raethon is simply watching at this point. He knows very little of the healing ways, so he leaves it to the ones that know better.

You paged Haggerty with 'He appears to have light wounds, few burns and such but nothing too serious.'

Sigrid clears the jelly away from the man's face, so he can breathe, and lays her hand on his chest, closing her eyes and channeling Daeus's power. "Be healed," she intones.

Mr Blurpleberry coughs and sputters after being healed, looking around groggily before he realizes where he is. When he does he quickly gets up with a speed unexpected from a man his size to inspects the remains of his destroyed chocolate cake. "Nooo... not again. The curse is true... I can never make a jelly filled chocolate cake." he murmers through large crocodile tears.

Chach looks over from where he has his fingers stuck in his mouth. Then continues eating the rest of it from his hand. It takes a few moments, because it is delicious and sticky, and all things jelly should (sort of) be. "Fear not, good baker," nom nom, "This may be your last creation," nom, "but it goes out with a bang! You have not just made art, but a memory!"

Raethon chuckles. "you made a good cake, just don't make it jelly filled." he says with a chuckle. "I don't think it's his last creation. Just his last of the jelly filled cake."

Sigrid's eyes widen, and she says seriously, "This goes a bit beyond not being able to make a jelly-filled cake." Looking to the others, she sighs and says, "Until you are cleared by a priest as to what went wrong and how to keep it from happening, I must recommend that you not attempt this again."

Chach pauses, and looks over. The Ceinaran looks moved, and rushes over to clasp the baker's arm. "Let it be a testimony to creation! It is daring! Dangerous! Creative! It may not be attempted again, but live in our hearts!" he says. A hand goes up to the sky, imagining the creation of the deadly cake moving heavenward.

Haggerty watches the goingson now that his vision is something the aspiring wizard can focus once more. He pats the guy, "There's going be a way. If you are truly cursed, please go to a temple and have yourself looked at, but I am sure there are enough guild members who would love to help you in that regard. And the lady is right. It is for the safety of all."

Mr Blurpleberry wipes away some of his sticky tears and nods to Chach and Haggerty "Surely you are both right, should I try it again I will make sure to involve the support I will need. You are good folks, thank you."

Haggerty does the stupid thing and offers his hand to a baker for a shake, "Promise? Don't break it?"

The Baker blows his nose int he end of his apron, very loudly. "Yes, yes I a promise. Please help youself to a pie in the store, I will be sure to thank the adventurers Guild appropriately."
