The Explorer's Guild has explained the situation to the lot of you. Their client, who has declined to be named, held quite the High Hunt bash the previous evening, and their hunt rode with hounds into the Eldwyn Forest. Although their Hunt was by all tales successful and a fine celebration indeed, just one mishap occurred, and it was a major one. Their youngest son Tomarn, just fifteen summers old, went missing during the Hunt.

None know exactly when he went missing, but amid all the flowing of wine, he turned up missing -- most likely he simply wandered off on his own. He's described as having straw-blonde hair, skinny and lanky; he's nonetheless a promising hunter, although with practically no experience. This is the first autumn he's been allowed to hunt with the adults.

You've been following the traces of this hunting group for a couple of hours now. It isn't hard -- recent rains coupled with the size of the group make their passing pretty obvious, but you're about to venture into the forest itself, under a canopy of trees that shelters much of the noon sunlight out from under its branches.

Schneider had mananged to snag a wineskin on the way out, and amid the tracking, he's been polishing the wine off and singing loudly. He's got a decent enough signing voice, but all the songs he knows are at least off-color, and most of them are inappropriate for anyone under 40. "Ohhhh, I met a girl with skin so fair, and she had huge ..."

"Hair," comes the grunted interruption from the robed and armored Khazad actually keeping an eye on the group's tracks. "Y'know, 'f you kept an eye out half as good's you kept your drink, might be as we'd've already found th'poor idiots."

 <OOC> Aldean says, "That's correct. Favored terrain grants you a +2 bonus to Survival."

You paged (Schneider, Kirran, Hethyr, Benthus) with 'Yup, you found the hunting group's tracks all right. They're /all/ /over/. How they caught anything with as much noise as they likely made is a mystery.'

Benthus looks about keenly, but not really sure what it is he should be looking for. Benthus looks down and found a trail. He looks surprised.

You paged (Kirran, Hethyr) with 'About half an hour into the forest, you two spot the diversion of a single horse and rider, although the direction of the hoofprints indicate that it's likely to have happened on the way back, not the way out. At any rate, these tracks divert off the main trail and deeper into the forest.'

You paged (Schneider, Kirran, Hethyr, Benthus) with 'There's actually two sets of tracks all muddled -- coming in and going out.'

Kirran wanders about a bit and frowns, following some of the tracks here and there to try and find the one that they are after. It takes a while but he looks for the others that are on this search and rescue effort. "I have something over here..." he offers to them, "These lead deeper into the forest, while most of the others were heading out..."


Schneider peers at Hethyr, and tries to work out if she's giving him a hard time or not. "I don't know what you mean?" he says by way of reply, taking another drink. "Tracks are easy enough to follow with this lot. They're probably partying as well. They're certainly not hunting anything, by the look of it. I'm certainly in no hurry to interrupt /their/ fun. They might even be on their way back, who can say?" he asks with a laugh and an attempt at an air of mystery.

Autumn wanders along in her heavy robes, her crossbow over one shoulder and a backpack on her shoulders.

Hethyr peers up... and up... and up, at Schneider, arching a lazy eyebrow, then points to Kirran. "Girl's got th'right of it," she says, stumping in the direction of the lone set of tracks. "Most of'm, likely on their way back. Not this'n, though, an' only one noble's in knots 'bout 'is kid bein' missin'. Smart money's on them tracks leadin' our way." Benthus sighs still looking at the tracks, "I am not good in tracking."

The tracks are plain to see for any of you, really. For Autumn, it's nothing more than a muddled mess of stomping around, but for the others, it's clear that the tracks was the main party. On looking, though, the rest of you can see that Hethyr and Kirran are right -- there's one horse that diverts from the others, the direction the tracks face indicating that the horse was headed out of the forest when he diverted. These tracks lead off the main trail, deeper into the forest.

Autumn pauses occasionally to look at the various flora and fauna, randomly picking a few leaves and roots here and there.

Kirran looks at Benthus and chuckles at him. "I'm sure that you'll be good at the hurting of things if we come across anything dangerous." He points in the direction the tracks go. "In any case, appears we want to go this way. Shall we?"


Schneider nods about the lone set of tracks leading away, and follows along, singing his inappropriate song. "And she and I danced all evening and after the dance we ..." *swing* "Ah, this is good wine. You all should enjoy the holiday more!" he observes.

 <OOC> Aldean says, "Kirran, you're following the tracks. Give me a Survival check ... and all of you, including Kirran, give me a Perception check."

Benthus grimaces slightly at the mentioning of him hurting anyone, but says nothing. Instead he follows the rest on this new trail.

Autumn looks up as people find the trail and nods, then follows along. She frowns for a moment, then pauses to chant something to herself...

 <OOC> Aldean says, "Were you planning for an adventure or a dungeon?"
 <OOC> Aldean says, "ANYWAY."

"Sure's I do," Hethyr says, shaking her head and sighing. "An' when we get back, intend t'enjoy it more, but right now we got us a job t'do. C'mon, bigjob, little less singin' an' a little more followin' th'tracker, there." With that, she lumbers off in Kirran's direction, waving the rest of the party along.

Kirran pages: No :(

Schneider remembers, somewhere in his boozy wanderings, to cast a spell. "Spirits of blood, serve me well you bastards!" There is a sort of surge under his skin, possibly of spirits of blood serving him, and then he seems normal. Or as normal as he ever does.

The trail really isn't much of one, leading into deep forest as it does, but Kirran seems to know /exactly/ where he's going, and doesn't seem to have any trouble at all following these traces. The crickets are chirping, and dappled sunlight spills down in bits and pieces across the undergrowth. It's not much, but it's enough to see by, and it's really rather a nice day despite the brisk breeze that ruffles the leaves around you. Somewhere nearby, something drops out of a tree with a *clunk* some distance away.

You follow this trail for about a kilometer or so, when the pace of the animal you're following picks up by quite a lot, suggesting that the creature bolted. Before you can contemplate this much, though, there's a loud crashing that all of you hear quite plainly, off to your left through the ancient trees.

 GAME: Autumn used a Ham Sammich.

Also, wind from nowhere blows back Schneider's hair melodramatically. He smiles, and his teeth glint. *ting* "I think we have company," he observes needlessly, pointing towards the loud crashing off to the left through the trees. "P'rhaps we should investigate. Since we're investigators, yes?"

Hethyr pages: Going away or coming toward us? You paged Hethyr with 'Coming your way.

Kirran doesn't say much as he continues to follow the tracks, though makes random comments to watch out for certain pitfalls, such as roots, badger holes, and the like, so that no one else gets caught by them. The elf pauses when it seems that the horse, or whatever was being riden, bolted. He kneels down to examine this a little closer when there is the loud crashing sound. This causes the Green Warden to stand, and draw his bow.

Hethyr unlimbers her hammer, and checks the set of her shield on her arm. "Sounds like it's comin' t'investigate us," she notes, edging around the party to meet their soon-to-be acquaintance. "Y'think it's thirsty an' lookin' f'r some wine, then? Let's hope it don't keep us too busy, anyway."

Whatever this thing -- or things -- is (are?), subtlety is /not/ their calling card. An ursine roar echoes through the trees, and in moments your company is easy to see. Freakish amalgams of fur and feathers, these three bizarre half-bear, half-owl creatures are something at least some of you have likely seen before as they lumber in your direction, their red-rimmed eyes rolling about wildly.

Obvious they may be, but they're not slow, either, and bloodthirst lends one of them a burst of extra speed. Before any of the group can move, the first of the owlbears closes with Kirran, taking a swipe at him with those nasty-looking claws. Fortunately, its haste overrides its good judgment, and the nasty-looking claws go well wide of their target.

As the owlbears burst into the clearing, the Khazad priestess' eyes narrow, and her hammer rings a bell-like tone against her shield. "Father above, Lord o' Sun an' Light, could use a touch o' good fortune, right about now... Help me keep these folk from hurtin' too hard, as it please ya."

<OOC> Aldean says, "No worries. You're up. They're big enough, weird enough, and one just went after your tracker."
<OOC> Benthus says, "Alright. The creatures are hostile already."

Benthus wasn't prepared for this and is slow to react when the owlbears begin to engage them. He doesn't say anything, but it is clear on his face that he is anxious when one of the bears nearly hit Kirran. He casts a spell on himself and then makes a run towards the attacked tracker, hoping to get the attackers attention on him. As he sprints he gets his sword out...

Schneider steps off to one side during the fray and shouts out, "Spirits of Lightning! Serve my will and obey my command! Strike now!" And true to his word lightning arcs from his hand, catching two of the enemy in the long stroke of power, leaving them singed and worse for wear.

The other two owlbears seem to be a little behind the first one, but no less willing to slaughter anything in their path. In fact, the one that took the brunt of Schneider's lightning bolt spell makes a beeline for him, slashing out with those massive claws. Although they connect, they fail to close around the giantborn. The second one goes for Autumn, but it snakes its massive head forward and bites her, tearing a chunk of flesh away.

Kirran is glad he already has his bow out, and raises it to fire at the owlbear, but it moves too quickly, though he manages to avoid being hit by it. He takes a step back, now that Benthus is there to help and two arrows are fired quickly at the creature. One flies wide, while the other gets into the owlbear's shoulder.

Benthus is in luck! Sort of. Despite the plink of an arrow that sinks into its furry/feathery hide and stings it, it turns its attention on the closer meal. Sadly, it forgot to bring the can opener, and claws and beak alike ring and scrape off of the paladin's armor.

Benthus looks surprised when all of a sudden he grows in size and strength. He shrugs off his confusion to check on the owl bear that is now a bit smaller than it was a second before. He makes an intelligent guess and says, "Whoever provided me with a little more power, thank you. If you have more, I'd sure appreciate it." He shifts his attention on to Kirran, looking at where the owlbear nearly missed him and making sure that it was truely a miss. "Sir, use me as cover." He says to Kirran as he he shifts his gaze towards the owlbear that attacked him. "I'll try to keep him occupied with me." He says calmly as he readies his sword for a swing, holding his attack just a little bit for an opening...

Seeing owlbear claws rake across Autumn, Hethyr lowers her shield, raises her hammer, and charges. Unfortunately, all the divine guidance in the world can't make up for stumbling over a treacerous root in her path, and her swing is wide and to no good. For a brief moment, she glares up skyward, muttering under her breath. "Y'know y'can STOP with th' jokes, m'Lord, I got humility enough..."

Schneider slips aside from the ogre's grasp, though there is a flash of crimson as the thing strikes him and spatters blood all over. Except not in his hair - that seems clean and bright and well-kept as ever. The giantborn sorcerer laughs with amusement and draws his greatsword, which is immediately weathed in flame and sparking energy. He feints at his enemy as he backpedals, taking another hit and spurting blood madly as he shouts, "Spirits of lightning, serve me again!" And another lightning bolt thunders across the clearing, joining two of the owlbears.

Benthus waits for the spell to reach completion and when it is done, the servant of Daeus towers over the owlbear. He looks at the creature in front of him, like a man about to put down a rabid dog. His face saddens before he draws his breath and calls upon the name of his liege lord. He swings his blade, and the heaven itself controlled his sword-arm, for the intended wounding resulted in the complete eviseration of the owlbear. Blood sprays everywhere, including on himself. He was pretty much surprised with what just happened. It appeared that the owlbear was destined for destruction. Benthus ponders on this before refocusing on the situation at hand.

The remaining two owlbears seem to be completely uanware that their kin just got utterly shredded by the enlarged paladin. One chases after Schneider; swiping at him with a claw and this time snagging his arm to hold him fast. The other, seemingly unaware of Hethyr at all, steps forward and bites at Autumn again, leaving her bleeding badly.

Autumn is, clearly, not the sort of combatant who has any business getting swiped at by a giantic half-a-bear, and Hethyr slides in next to her, resting a hand on her shoulder. Schneider is held good by the huge owlbear, and he can't seem to wriggle free. "Spirits of mphlml;mml!" he tries to cast. "Argh," he grumbled, spitting out fur to try again, but there seems to be no chance as he's forced to gulp for air as the thing's arm closes over his face again.

Benthus feels sluggish with his new size and seems to find it forever to simply turn his head to look at his companions. Upon seeing that Autumn got herself badly injured by an attacking owlbear, he frowns disapprovingly. He turns himself to face the offending creatures and raises his greatsword above his head. Once again, he utters the name of his diety before he begins to charge towards his target. The ground seems to heave at the passage of the enlarged half-sil, slight tremors resonating from each pounding footsteps. As he gets within range, he swings his sword low, focused on ending the owlbears life as quickly and as painless as possible. But the blade does not bite deep enough, or his arm swing hard enough, leaving the owlbear angry and in pain. He grimaces knowing that this is, once again, unexpected. Still, he keeps his thought focused on the fight and keep the owlbear occupied with him.

SChneider has a problem. The owlbear's claws tighten their hold, digging deeper and deeper into the giantborn's flesh. As for the other one -- crimson sprays everywhere as Benthus full-out charges it, but it retaliates, those eyes rolling wildly as it brings both claws and its beak alike down on the Sunblade. Truly he seems to be blessed ... a strike like that should have done far more damage, but still he seems relatively hale.

Kirran resets himself as he gets more arrows and quickly fires at the owlbear again. One goes wide again much to his frustration, but the second lands and doesa good mount of hurt of it. He does growl a bit, mostly at his imperfection of his aim.

With the spellworker out of harm's way, and the paladin thoroughly tying up her quarry, Hethyr looks to the other remaining creature. Seeing that Schneider is struggling in the creature's grasp, she brings her shield hand up to clutch her symbol of Daeus. "Father above, you've seen us all through darkness, an' you're a beacon of hope when despair hangs heavy. There's a man fightin' for 'is life, an' could use a little hand up t'help 'im see to th'safety of an innocent, Father, an' if you'd see your way clear? How 'bout you break a little dawn over this thing's fool head." In answer to Hethyr's... rough... prayer, there's a flash of sunlight from high above the canopy, and a shimmering, transparent sword, a construct made in the image of the Sun Father's own, streaks through the branches to embed itself in the dirt, planing away a strip of owlbear flesh from its path.

Schneider can't really cast a spell, held as he is, so he reverts to his basic nature and growls, biting his lower lip, and as he tastes the blood, he howls defiance and struggles to break free of the owlbear's grasp. Unfortantely, the owlbear has a very good grip, and Schneider is unable to wriggle free.

Schneider throws off the dead owlbear and looks around, but there seem to be no more enemies, so he forces himself to calm himself. "Thanks," he mumbles after a few moments to compose himself.

Benthus smarts from being clawed by the owlbear. And then gets jerked around as it latches on his leg trying to rip it apart. He thumps the pummel of his great-sword at the head of the creature, doing his best to make the creature let go of it. He barely manages to do so when the bear got hit at one sensitive part of its owl head. The enlarged half-sil looks at the creature thoughtfully, as it is dripping blood from the wounds he and the rest of his companions have inflicted. A look of sadness creeps into his eyes before he blinks it away. Eyes focused, he levels his blade at it again, intent on finishing what he had started. Again, the blade moves differently, as if guided by unseen hands, and it slices through the creatures fur, skin, siney and bones as easily as the proverbial hot knife through butter. It slices from shoulder to shoulder. For the moment, the creature looks stunned, unable to make a sound. And then blood begins to squirt out from where the blade went through. The creature topples over, head first and then followed by its body.

As the last owlbear drops dead, those who look about the area realize that (1) it's quite a mess, and (2) that you'll need to find the rider's tracks again. The scene of the fight is quite the mess, thanks to Benthus and his mighty blade, arrows and claws and so forth.

Autumn carefully makes her way through her companions, gesturing as the blood, guts and dirt of the fight are smoothly removed from each person.

"Sorry business," Hethyr says with a heavy sigh, making her way to Schneider and casting a critical eye over his wounds. "You look a mess, buddy... Maybe as y'oughta stay outta its grip, next time?" Pausing, she peers about the area, a look of mild frustration crossing her face. "...A-a-and now we gotta pick up th'trail again."

Benthus sees that the last of the owlbear has been dispatched and so stabs the tip of his blade on the soft ground beside him. He cups his hands together near his chest and lowers his head in prayer. He begins to radiate a soft ligth that encompasses all of his companions, wrapping them up with a soft sheen of gentle magic that causes their injuries to knit and heal. He holds to this position for a while until everyone is fully healed and then opens his eyes.

<OOC> Benthus ponders between being practical and being respectful. The owlbear bodies need to be disposed of properly. I fear necromancy would bring this creature more danger to those around it more than it had during its time alive.

Kirran sighs at all the mess of the owlbears left and just gathers up a few of his arrows that can possibly be used again. Taking his time, he wanders through the area, checking everything and then nods. "Got it!" he calls after a bit. "Trail is over here."

<OOC> Autumn summons Munch and has them eaten.
<OOC> Benthus shudders.
<OOC> Hethyr says, "Aheh, no."

Benthus looks at the owlbear and then at his surrounding. He quickly tries to etch something on a piece of bark to remind himself of this particular location. He then hussles to catch up with the rest.

<OOC> Aldean says, "Got it."
<OOC> Hethyr says, "But it bears noting that if we have a problem with wandering necromancers raising dead bodies rather than scavengers eating them, Alexandria is in more trouble than it seems. :P"

Autumn heads over to the Owlbear she finished off and pulls out her dagger. She removes a few things, like some of the claws, plus a few other bits and pieces here and there. She carefully stores them in a pouch, tucking it away in her robes.

<OOC> Autumn says, "Hey, those components and magical item costs come from SOMEWHERE."
<OOC> Benthus would like to be thorough if he can.

Once all has been settled and the location marked for remains removal later, the group follows the path Kirran has identified. It's not far down the path at all when the tracks change abruptly.

Benthus is doing a bit better the third time around of checking the trail for footprints. Still, he follows the path of their more experienced member, but the knowledge of knowing that he is on the right path is reassuring.

"See that?" Hethyr asks of Kirran, indicating the point where the tracks split off. "Ain't so much my specialty, but, look t'you like th'boy went off that way?

Benthus looks concerned as he checks his surrounding. "I know that this thing can not be rushed, but if we can, we should try to hurry. There are more dangerous creatures here than just bears with owls for heads."

Kirran studies the tracks for a bit. "I have a suspicion that our quarry wandered off from the hunting party, was startled back there, possibly by the owlbears... the boy fell off here, and while the horse continued on," he points to those tracks, "the boy headed off in this direction."

Benthus appears anxious due to Hethyr's remark.

It does, indeed, look as if that's the case, and the tracks the booted feet left suggest that their owner might be limping. He's looked to turn his way back towards the edge of the forest, but he's wandering some, and you follow the tracks for a good hour or two.

Kirran stops in his tracks and holds up a hand to warn the others to stop. He also puts up a finger to warn them to be quiet and then to stay put while he tries to get a little closer to find out what it is he heard.

Hethyr pulls up short as Kirran puts his hand up, pursing her lips in thought. "Somethin's inna bushes," she mutters to her companions. "Breathin' hard, like. Could be it's th'boy, an' me, I'm hopin as it is."

Oh-so-quietly, Kirran creeps up on the copse of bushes, and pulls one of the fronds aside. There's a towheaded lad in there, curled up and shivering. He's managed to hide himself decently, at least.

Benthus listens quietly and nods his head in reply. He shifts his gaze to the nearby bushes, narrowing his eyelids as he scrutinizes them, not really sure which bush is the hiding spot of something. When Kirran detaches from their company and slides into the shadow, he resumes his careful watch of the bushes. When he sees that a shadowy figure eases itself beside one of the bushes, he narrows his gaze once again. He could not hear entirely what is being said, but he knows that the voice is from Kirran. He waits patiently for a favourable result to emerge...

When last we left our intrepid heroes, they'd come north some ways into the Eldwyn Forest in search of a lad who'd been lost on one of the many High Hunt bashes thrown by various nobles. After a rather bloody fight with a group of owlbears who were trying to turn them into a particularly crunchy bit of dinner, they'd just found the towheaded boy, curled up in a copse of bushes deep within the Eldwyn Forest. The boy matches the description of their quarry, but is clearly shivering, and when he turns halfway over in the dirt to look up at the group, his eyes are glazed with pain. "Who ... who're you?" he asks, looking from face to face.

Pulling a waterskin from her hip pouch, she takes a long pull and scans the area for more threats.

Kilian looks about the group, "You all killed everything yeah? Just because... this waiting about is making us vulnerable.. along with a gimp kid." She pulls a flask from her inside pocket, takes a big swig. "Look kid.. just pretend it don't hurt, and we'll get ya out of here quick." jumps from the swat, "I'm being honest.. I hated when adults lied to me..." but she does step back, but brings her bow into her hand.

As Benthus moves to touch the boy's ankle, he draws back with a hiss of pain at first. "Ow!" After a moment, though, he accepts the split, and pulls the cloak tightly around him. "Cold ... guess you're adventurers, huh? Father won't be too angry, will he?" Shivering again, he starts to sit up...

And it's about now that without warning, something big and cat-like leaps out of the brush some distance away, its arc headed straight for Kilian. Eerie and odd, it appears to be the animated skeleton of a huge fanged cat, its bones glowing with fire and seething with smoke.

Schneider is shocked by the monster coming out of noplace, and draws his blade quickly. His greatsword bursts with flame, and it takes him a moment to sort it out before he can strike. In that time, the tussle shifts so that he doens't really have a good attack, so he holds himself ready to strike and accomplishes nothing. But he looks so cool doing it.

Benthus smiles for the boy in reply to his query and when everyone was set to go, he took it upon himself to carry the boy on his arms. but before he could do so, something happens. A creature he discern as not of this plane pounces on one of their companions. When danger came into their midst, his first priority is to make safe their package, heading to the back of the group and letting the rest deal with the threat. He secures the child under a copse of bushes and puts a finger to his lips. He turns his head towards the commotion and stands up, before drawing his sword and praying.

Her focus being on the boy, Hethyr is without weapon or shield when the great flaming cat pounces. Yet all the same, she pelts forward, heedless of the danger or the fire, pressing a hand against Kailan's uncovered shoulder, muttering a soft, fervent prayer that her light not be snuffed too soon, the healing magics working to undo some of the savaging the woman has taken.

Benthus, Hethyr, Kilian, Kirran and Schneider are all under the effects of her spell. She calls out "That's a Hellcat! They're natives of Hell, beware! They're smart too! They resist spells and if you aren't holy, it takes a lot to penetrate its skin! It isn't impressed by fire either!"

Kirran was occupied with some personal business, but of course, that's when the hellcat decides to attack. He rushes back, especially with the extra boost of speed that someone graced him with and though he is told that he may need something special, he shoots at it, from his position. However, it must be the extra movement or something, and the arrow goes wide, though just ends up in a tree.

Schneider feels himself speeding up, and manages to keep his flaming blade under control, striking the creature twice with the mighty weapon as he laughs with amusement. His hair whips wildly around him as he does so, as if a crazed cyclone were intent on putting it in horrible disarray, and yet he still looks cool.

The fire from Schenider's flaming blade doesn't seem to impress the monster very much.

The creature's just about to carry Kilian off when she resumes struggling, thanks to Hethyr. Evil, empty eye sockets glare at the cleric , and it roars in anger as Schneider's blade connects with what could be called its back, but it rakes Kilian one more time. Stop struggling, dinner.

Kilian groans, to remind everyone that she is still dying... despite the great, huge, mighty feat of strength just performed by Benthus...

Benthus moves to position himself opposite Schneider and proceeds to slash at the evil creature...

An explosion of light erupted when his blade made contact with the beast. As visions return to normal, the creature is no more.

Benthus sheathed his sword and heads back to the boy and picks him up hurriedly. He looks to the rest, urgency on his face...

Kirran has is bow ready to take another shot but stops when he sees that now... after being nearly blinded, there is no more creature. "Well... that was effective," he smiles slightly at Benthus. "Where is the boy?" he asks, looking around for him.

Schneider places his blade point down into the ground, looks at the remains of the creature, such as it is. "Well. That's not normal," he says, perhaps unnecessarily. "Maybe we ought to get back to Alexandria now?"

Autumn blinks as she watches Benthus strike it with his righteous fury and destroys the Hellcat utterly. She says "Bravo... indeed your Faith is strong!"

"WHOA!" Hethyr says, ducking away from the shattering burst of light, arm rising to shield her eyes. Once the light fades, the Khazad blinks the spots from her vision, eyes widening at Kilian's sorry state. "I'm sure as she's thankin' ya," she grumbles, kneeling over the bloodied woman to restart the healing process. "Might be as she'd've been able t'say it herself if you'd'a been kind enough t'do that a lil' sooner?"

Behind the group, the blonde boy has half-sat up and is now staring at Benthus with naked awe written across his features. "Whoa! That was incredible!" Though his eyes are still glazed with pain, he's still staring at Benthus even as he's lifted off the ground. It's then that he sees Kilian's state. "Is...is she dead?" Awe turns to worry and fear.

Benthus says, "There may be more."

Kilian blinks a moment, coming around thannks to Hethyr's gifts of healing. "Do.. do I still get paid?" She glances down at her bloodied body, "Yeah... this is going to be hard to repair..." she tries to move her legs, testing how well can she move. She looks up at Hethyr from her place on the ground. Her words serious for the first time.. "Thanks."

"Naw," Hethyr says in answer to the boy's question, reaching down to give Kilian a hand up. "She just got banged up a bit, kiddo," she chuckles, clapping the woman on the shoulder. "Make sure y'get put t'rights by the time we get back, no worries. Oh an' Sunblade? Could be as th'kid'd feel a lil' better if y'fixed up 'is ankle, stead'a haulin' him around?"

Autumn walks over to the kid and offers a friendly smile "How are you doing? We'll get you healed right up and then home safe and sound."

The boy's eyes are still wide as saucers as the others approach. "Um, my ankle really hurts. My horse threw me and ran off...I don't know what happened to it." He's still huddling in the cloak, one fist wrapping ot closely around himself. He looks over at the dwarf, then confused at Benthus.

Schneider will check the ground for horse tracks, in case there is some evidence of a horse running off. "Perhaps it hasn't gone too far," he suggests.

Kilian makes her way to her feet. "What.. is a hellcat doing here? Don't know much about them things aside rumors, but I don't think this is its natural habitat." She looks around the woods apprehensively.

Kirran puts away his bow and walks over to the boy. "We came to find you, if we are lucky, we may find the horse, but we really should be getting you home to your parents." He looks over to the others to help the boy with his ankle, moving off to the side to make sure they aren't ambushed by anything else.

You paged Kirran with 'You see the boy's tracks, and the limp in the tracks is pretty evident, but there's no sign of horse tracks here. You'd have to backtrack the boy's tracks to find where the horse diverted, and that would t ake time.'

Kirran does a quick move around the immediate area and after a bit, enough time for healing to be done, the Green Warden returns. "The horse isn't in this immediate area. We'd have to backtrack to where we last saw the tracks and go from there. That is quite a bit of time to do that..."

Kilian grimaces as she is trying to tie cloth about her not quite fully healed wounds.. "Every beast in this place can smell me..." she takes out her flask for another swig. "This is not helping much." With Kirran's assessment, "We have time for that? They want the kid yes? Who cares about the horse."

Schneider shrugs about the horse. "The kid will go faster on a horse?" he suggests. "I'm good either way, though, yeah? we've got him, let's get back and get paid? Booze is calling out for me."

"S'a good question," Hethyr says, slipping a wand from the sleeve of her robe, touching it to the boy's leg. "What'cha say, m'young lord? Could look for y'r horse 'f it's really important, but, I'm wonderin' if we're temptin' fate enough as it is. 'S your animal, though, so it's your call."

"M...me?" The boy looks down at Hethyr, and breathes easier as the bones in his ankle readjust, pulled back into place by the magic of the gods. "Thank you ... um, if you think you'll find another one of those ... I guess going after the horse would be pretty stupid, wouldn't it. If Father says to do it, I will. He'll prboably be pretty mad ... but I'm really cold ...."

Kirran listens to the boy and nods. "I suggest we get him home, where he is warm and safe. I will offer to go find the horse if the family is insistant on it."

"'S what I thought," Hethyr answers, bobbing her head in agreement with Kirran. "Let's get goin'." Moving up alongside Kilian, the Khazad murmurs, "an' you get y'self t'temple an' get that seen to, aight? I'll get it taken' care of."

Kilian looks aside at Hethyr, "T.. temple?" She nods her head, "Aye.. I'll go." She winces as walking pulls on her wounds. "They usually arn't happy with me there." She smirks.

Schneider nods to the others, leads the way heading back, whistling a cheerful tune.
