  • Title: Pita Break
  • Emitter: Culix
  • Characters: Culix, Aryia, Seyardu, Morgan
  • Place: Lower Trades District
  • Time: November 6th, 2021
  • Summary: Culix and Aryia previously arranged to grab a bite to eat and gab about their last crazy adventure. Aryia is late, and arrives in style. Seyardu is already there, her still recovering from getting hugged by a ghost. The gobbo makes the connection between Aryia's relationship and a recent excursion with a veiled enigma, but Aryia clamps down and firmly dissuades the connection being made aloud. Culix ponders getting a covered wagon, something that Morgan agrees is a good idea as she joins the group. They speak about not being used to having money, living with nothing, as well as donating it and getting fancy items to further help their endeavors. Culix dramatically laments everyone hooking up, but bids everyone farewell. Morgan leaves, and the remaining two talk about clothes.

It's another chilly day in Alexandria, the sky is threatening to rain, but not making good on the promse for the time being. Perfect time for certain light-sensitive buddies to hang out and grab some dinner- the sort that's served on a stick, most likely, given the fare on offer. Oh, there's some stuffed into pitas, too. Either way, the Goblin stands on a corner, hands stuffed into her back pockets as she glances about- waiting for a certain Mul to arrive.

It's been a minute since that certain mul'neissa has caught up with her gobbo friend. It was a couple minutes past the time she was supposed to show up.

An odd sight breaks the dreary sky. Faded after images of a speeding blur coast over rooftops before careening downwards to the road below. Whoever it is kills their speed by breaking the twirl they were doing and flaring their limbs out, only to land on the ground. They skid on their feet a few dozen yards past Culix, then slow to a stop.

Aryia pops up from the crouch, her sweating some as her shades were askew on her face. She's signing a flurry as she jogs up to Culix. "Holy shit I'm /so/ sorry I'm late I totally forgot to check the time!" <Handspeech>

Culix blinks as she catches a weird blur out of the corner off her eye, and then jolts back when Aryia lands on the ground just ahead of her. "Taara's tits!" she exclaims in surprise then, extracting her hands from her pockets she takes a step forwards as Aryia jogs over.

"Hey, no worries." she replies. "Did you just jump off a roof?" she asks then, tilting her head a bit and looking up to where she last spied the blur.

Aryia wipes her brow free and pulls her shades off, revealing blazing bright eyes. She pants some, but smirks regardless as she thumbs her nose before pointing it over her shoulder. "In the Colossum District, yes."

They were in the Trades. <Handspeech>

"Show off." Culix says, moving over to bump her hip against Aryia's- well, leg. She stuffs her hands back into her pockets and then tilts her head towards the stalls of the market. "Shall we get some dinner?" she asks her friend then and begins pacing ahead, although she does glance over her shoulder to catch any response as she moves.

"That shit at the farm was fucking nutso, right?" she adds then.

Aryia snickers, her returning the bump by gently flicking her hand against Culix's shoulder. "I just didn't want to be late!" she explains before rubbing her neck. "... besides it's kind of addicting to do. Yes! Dinner!" the elf exclaims, pumping a fist in the air as she ambles behind Culix.

There's a 'tch' noise that comes from her and she rolls her eyes back, yet shudders at the memory. "Fucking tell me about it. I thought it was going to eat my fucking kidney." <Handspeech>

Culix continues on the way, gaze flicking between finding her way through the market and watching Aryia's hands as she makes her way along. "There's a pita place round here, no idea what meat they use but it's salty and spicy." she adds then as they head along.

"Yeah that big spider did a right number on me." she adds and rolls her shoulder, wincing as she does. "Nearly took my damn arm off." she adds then and huffs.

"So you knew that gnome huh?" she adds then, as they arrive at the pita stand. She joins the queue, and then turns to face Aryia properly to save her neck muscles.

Aryia makes an 'o' shape with her mouth at the mention of pita. "I don't care what they use, that sounds fucking good. I love spicy food."

Her brows twitch some in worry at the shoulder as they get in line. "I hope it's healing alright. The Defense patched me up. Yes. I knew her. She was trying to suss out origin of a disease going through the lower districts. By leading one of the infected via a cart filled with explosives. We made sure that didn't happen. Crazy bitch." <Handspeech>

At the pita place in question already, at a table pulled well off to the side sat a semi-familiar, dark brown sith-makar with a slightly unpleasant odor of decay coming from peeling scales. The stand had no stools, so a chair was propped with its back against the table where Seyardu ate her pita and other food slowly. She turns, a mouth full of food as she reads the hands.

"Vernuh passshed er up real goo' a' t'defenshe." She states, before swallowing. "What iss thiss about explossivess, though? Aryia did not mention thiss in the sslightesst."

"They mostly are." Culix says, a beat, "Gnomes, that is." she adds then to expand incase it wasn't clear. "I mean, not like I can talk. You ever been to goblintown? There's pretty much a 50-50 chance you get your eyebrows burned off any given hour spent there." she adds then.

"Well, guess she was right about that Dana being no good. Well, not really, but closer than I woulda thought." She adds then. "Glad I been reading up on shit, though. Had half an idea what that thing was."

She takes a step forwards as the line advances. "Shoulda splurged on that wagon, though. Never knew how hard horse riding was on the arse." she continues then.

Her nose wrinkles a bit and then she peers towards where it's coming from, blinking, she lifts a hand uncertainly in greeting. "Is that... you, Seyardu?" she asks.

Aryia shrugs, stepping forward as the line advances. "Most yes. Goblintown almost got me shot,,and not on purpose." The elf scratches her head. "I still don't know what the fuck that was. It was just gross as fuck."

She spies Seyardu, brows raised. "Oh, hey Seyardu, peace on your nest. Are you recovering okay? I can't tell. And don't worry about it, just some dumbass doing way too dangerous solutions." <Handspeech>

"Wagon riding iss a lot better, for certain. But I am biassed due to my ssight being so bad. Eassier to have another do the driving." Seyardu offers with a sigh. "But I have heard ssaddle ssores become lesss of an isssue the more you ride. Lot of farmhandsss came to the temple with sssuch injuriesss."

She looks down, and chuffs, before she looks back to the too. "Long ssstory, got hugged and buried by a ghosst, came out looking half undead. I think thingss are better, but thisss one is overly itchy, and the tarrace bathhousse is clossed for ssoaking. But thiss one would sscare off everytone there in their current ssstate, anywaysss, so it may be for the besst."

Culix nods her head then, "Guy was trying to sell me a wagon, said it'd be easier on me if I aint used to riding. Thought he was trying to scam me. Might see about getting one, for when I gotta head out of the city again. 'sides, would make lugging stuff around easier. Never know when there's gonna be some priceless artifact just laying around when you're out on a job." she adds then with a toothsome grin.

She looks back towards Seyardu, and winces. Taking a step forward in the advancing line, "Buried alive? That's rough. And yeah, the TarRaCe being closed is shite is what it is." she huffs. "I mean, can get the inns to fill you a tub for a few silvers, but honestly I'd sorta gotten used to taking a bath with friends. Bit weird at first, but it's actually kinda nice."

"Yeah, I think me and you was the only ones who kept our lunch- that shit was kind of hilarious. or would have been, if we weren't about to be eaten alive by a giant spider anyhow." she adds, finally advancing to the front of the line. She orders herself a pita, stuffed with strips of unidentified meat cut from a log in the rotiserie, salad, mint yogurt. And she tosses a couple of coins on the stall as she takes her food.

She waits for Aryia to place her own order. "Still, any fight you walk away from is a good one." she says then, taking a bite of the frankly overflowing pita, causing some scraps of salad to fall to the ground, and leaving a yogurty moustache under her nose. "So anyhow. Venom, huh?" she says Cryptically to Aryia.

Aryia shrugs. "Wagons and horses are nice, but I tend to outpace them."

She dons a sad frown for a beat. "Yes. I'm sad it's closed. I really liked those baths, made a lot of good memories there." Her sadness is balmed by ordering something similar, pita shoved full of something unknown, greens, and absolutely LADEN with whatever it was used to spice it. She pays for hers and steps off. "I just felt bad for Venom, she nearly drowned herself with that."

The great thing about signing is that you can shove your face full with one hand, and keep talking with the other. Which Aryia does so. Enthusiastically. "Yes, agreed, whatever you can walk away from is a good lesson learned. Like my arm getting broken."

She stops, mouth full like a chipmunk's. And she casts a quizzical gaze at Culix. "What about her?" <Handspeech>

Seyardu takes this as a chance to eat more of her rather large pita. "Sssafer to bathe when people are around anywayss, but that is lesss of a concern here. Do not need to worry about what is lurking in the depthss of the Tarrace waterss, other than perhapss Irssshya." The cleric chuckles. She seems confused when Culix brings up the veiled woman, and she shakes her head quickly. "Thiss one is ssorry to ssay, thingss did not work out between them. But Aryia has been sseeing someone elsse, a woman named Violet. Ssshe is very nice, from what thiss one has heard."

Morgan comes walking in to the area with a little dragon on her shoulder "Well I am not that read on about fish I think you are talking about a large mouth bass. Some what common in that area I think." she pauses a moment and then says "No I am not that picky about foods thoug I do not need to eat." The dragon gives her a strange look that gives the half elf a chuckle. "No silly this ring makes sure I do not need to eat or sleep much.... Ok have a nice day Whisper." said as the dragon flys away.

"Worked with her a few times. Didn't know her real name was Violet." Culix casually offers before stuffing her own mouth again, and then tilting her head towards Seyardu's table and leading the way over there. "She seems like decent people. Quiet, but aint nothing wrong with that." she adds then as she leads the way, glancing back to see if Aryia's following- or at least to watch her hands for a response.

Upon reaching Seyardu's table, she invites herself to sit down and hops up into a free seat.

She looks to Seyardu, and then back over to Aryia for a moment, and then swallows her mouthful of Pita to laugh. "Oh come off it. I aint buying that for a second. You must think I'm a right mug." she says to Seyardu's explanation, rolling her eyes. "I seen the way you was looking at her, surprised you didn't drive your poor horse into a ditch."

Aryia blinks again. Then cuts a glare at Seyardu, her making the universal gesture of wavering one's hand at the neck back and forth to 'no no no stop.' She does cast a glance to the creature that flies off, then to Morgan, but things were a bit focused on important topics at the moment to wave hello. Pita supported fully by her mouth, she uses both hands to flounder an explanation. "Wait, no Venom's name isn't Violet, they're two different peo-"

Laughter. The elf's fingers cringe, her looking... honestly a touch frustrated. "For fuck's sake..."

She drops into a seat, setting her half eaten pita down on the table and affixes Culix with a firm, firm look. "Venom and I are not together. Violet and I are. Is that clear?" <Handspeech>

"No, her name isn't Violet, Culix." Seyardu sighs, already seeming to have managed to dig herself into a hole. She takes a moment to wave to Morgan instead before she continues, while Aryia explains herself.

"It is as Aryia saysss. You will need to work through your unrequited feelingss by the sssound of it though Aryia, I do not know how sshe would react to what Culix is sspeaking about."

Culix stuffs her mouth full of food again as Aryia gives her 'the look' occupying her mouth wih munching for the time being. Eventually she swallows the mouthful and raises her eyebrows at it, "Alright, alright, fine. Didn't mean to touch a nerve." she says then, setting her own food down to hold up her hands in a placating gesture. "Weird, usually have a decent nose for this kind of thing." she adds a moment later.

"But, if that's how you say it is, that's how it is. Aint really none of my business anyway, I'm just being nosy." she says and then offers a shrug. She scratches her cheek awkwardly for a moment, as she searches for a different topic to talk about.

Eventually she comes up with something, clearing her throat, "I was actually thinking uh, maybe I'll get a carriage instead of just a cart. This adventuring gig is paying pretty well, and might as well travel in style, right?" she offers.

Morgan hears people talking about romance and feelings, she takes a moment to ponder something and then reliese that a part human/elf/fae person should not help out and make things worse. But she gets closer and wonders how this will go to the table. But as Culix talks about a carriage "for adventuring its best to get a covored waggon.

Aryia sighs, deflating and stuffing her face with her spicy food to make it better. "Look. It's complicated. Just don't... say that out loud. It would endanger Venom." A couple more bites, her pursing her lips as she chews. "... I almost did drive the horse into a ditch about five times," she slowly admits, face tinging red.

She bobs her head in agreement, doubly so as Morgan approaches properly. "Hey. Yes, that's a good idea. Want some food?" She offers her half eaten pita, it full of some unknown meat, greens, and unholy amount of spiciness. <Handspeech>

"Carriagess require different horssess from cartsss, I heard. But that could be good, you could perhapsss sset it up asss a travelling home, even." Seyardu suggests, taking the out of the conversation readily. "Thiss one has gold to sspare, but doess not live frivoloussly. But having a covering to protect from ambusshing archerss, that iss not frivolouss, I feel."

Culix watches Aryia and then a smile comes back to her lips, she nods her head and says, "Now that I understand- shoulda lead with that." she tells the Mul, reaching out with a foot to give Aryia a chiding poke since her hands are occupied with Pita. Pita which she takes another bite from, munching on it as the topic changes to carriages.

"Guy reckoned a couple of horses like the one I got could pull a stage coach, I reckon that'd do me. Never rode in anythin' fancy like that before. Well, 'cept when they took me from the courthouse to the prison. But that one had bars on the windows and I was in manacles." she adds then. Munch munch.

Turning her attention back to Seyardu, she huffs, "Yeah but like- what's the point of having money if you don't spend it on fancy shit, right?" she says then. "When I was growing up, I wouldn't have dreamed of riding in a carriage, much less owning one. I was second youngest of four, so by the time I got to use the tub it was lukewarm and grimy. Not like you can take it with you- least that's what the temples say when they're lookin' for donations- so might as well spend it." she suggests.

Morgan shakes her head when it come to the food as she shows a ring on her finger "this ring makes it so I do not need to eat and I only need 2 hours of sleep a day, but thank you luv." She then looks to the other two and says "Wagons are easy to enchant so you do not need horses. And there are many things you can add to them."

Aryia grumbles silently after getting teasingly poked. "Sorry. It's a hard thing to keep under wraps." She shakes her head, sighing. "I'm with Seyardu on this. I still find it hard to buy fancy things for myself. So used to having basically nothing. From, well, you two know-" she gestures to Culix and Seyardu before continuing, "-I did get this jacket made though. Well, I made it, and a mage enchanted it. Makes me hit really fucking hard."

The mute woman looks up to Morgan, her tilting her head to the side at the sight of the ring, and its explanation. "... sleeping less sounds nice. But... not needing to eat? Food is great though...." <Handspeech>

"It iss not like I am holding on to money for the ssake of it, that would be foolissh, and perhapss worse." Seyardu replies with a sigh. "I am likely going to get ssome more equipment for mysself after what happened."

Seyardu pauses to scratch at her arm. "Thiss one likess making donationss to the temple of Althea, asss it sseemss to improve the quality of the food they can make."

"If you wissh to teasse someone about relationsshipss however, thiss one iss much lesss experienced in ssuch matterss."

"Mikilosss hass a ssimilar ring. They can be usseful, he ssaid, but yess, there are many foodss that are enjoyable. But having it in casse of emergency iss not a bad idea."

Culix takes a look at the ring herself, and she nods her head in firm agreement with Aryia. "I like eating. Like sleeping, too, for that matter." she says then. "Seyardu's right, it'd be handy in a pinch but kind of sounds like a drag to wear day to day." she adds then. "No offense."

Back to Aryia, she continues her argument for frivolous spending with, "Yeah but I had basically nothing, too. Well, no, that aint fair. Ma and pa did what they could, but we was pretty poor. That's why I'm making the most of it now I can." she says.

At Seyardu's comment she huffs, "Yeaaah, but I just end up wondering where the money actually goes, you know? I give some coppers o toothless Gail, I know she's gonna spend it on a bowl of brown and a bottle of hooch. An' I'm fine with that. Give it to the temple, who knows where it's going. Specially at the minute, with the lockdown and all the rumors." she shrugs again.

She focuses on her Pita once more, for a few moments- demolishing what remains of it, before looking back to Morgan. "Magic carriage could be pretty good, yeah. Horses kinda stink." she.

Morgan reaches in her haversack and gets a blue bottle and hands it to Aryia "if this food is to spicey this potion will help some to settle your stomic. But for as food when you are busy doing magic stuff it tends to slow you down, even more so as I do not have a servent and Braelnoir hardly stays to long. And when you are long adventure trips it helps to save packing space." She then answers Culix the avarage cost for the barebasic "I only did that with one and it was fun."

Aryia scratches her head at Culix, her finishing up the last of her too spicy pita. "... how do you like sleeping? That's always been the strangest thing for me to figure out..." she ponders aloud with a hand. Elves and sleep, you know?

The mul'neissa blinks at the bottle, her tilting her head to the side as she scarfs down the last of her incredibly spicy food and taking it like a champ. A hand raises, and slowly she pushes it away. "Appreciated, but no thanks. I love the burn."

She doesn't mention she doesn't trust random bottles from mages she barely knew.

She does get a grin through, her leaning towards the tarnished scale makair with a glint in her glowing eyes. "... so how is that going then~?" she teases with a waggle of her fingers. <Handspeech>

Aryia though, pauses a moment to look at Morgan. "You know B-R-A-E? Oh, wow. Small world." <Handspeech>

"Well, ssleeping iss pleassant. When tired at the end of the day, it iss nice to relax and not do much before drifting off." Seyardu offers in explanation after taking another bite of her sandwich. "Thiss one has ssseen the cofferss of the Althean temple. They are large, but thiss iss due to being prepared for emergenciess. They are sstrained by current eventss, sso it wass not a bad idea. I could sshare with you a lisst of expensses if you were ever curiouss. But ssilver iss not cheap when you need medical ssupliess in ssuch amountss."

"You know Braelnoir asss well? Thiss one iss her friend, ssshe iss nice." She replies to Morgan. "Thiss one valuess the experience of cooking and the effect had on morale, sstill. But thiss one can carry much larger packss than mosst, but we do not eat the large amountss giantborn do."

Culix did not poke it, but Aryia did, and she nods. "It isss, going well. This one thankss you for your advice and support, Aryia."

Morgan nods "she is my girlfriend." says with a great smile "While we are not a normal couple I am happy with what we got." she puts the bottle away. Looking at the sun and its setting "I was remarking that she does not cook much, I do most of the cooking for us when she stays at my house."

Culix grins, "Sleeping is great! You get comfy under the covers when it's cold out, drift off, an' if you got nothing to do you stay there until you're stomach's too empty or your bladder's too full to stay there any longer." she says then. "Love sleeping. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have more hours in the day for getting stuff done, sometimes. But I wouldn't trade sleeping for that." she comments.

She looks between Aryia, Seyardu, and Morgan. "What the hell? Everyone is hooking up." she complains, flopping back into her chair and folding her arms across her chest. "I had a kind of on again off again thing going with this other gobber I know, but she's hardly ever around lately." she sighs dramatically.

Aryia blinks at Morgan's explanation. "... I didn't know that. Well. Damn. I know what to tease B-R-A-E about next time."

She turns back to Seyardu and Culix. "Yes, I know how sleeping works. It's just the length of time that always baffles me. Even I have to lie down for a few hours, but not nearly a third of a whole day!"

She grins. "Good, I'm glad I helped you. I guess I give good advice, others keep asking me for it." The elf sighs a bit, shaking her head and reaching out, patting Culix's good arm. "There there. Violet and I was a... weird set of circumstances. Wouldn't be with anyone else now if some things didn't happen. Like us getting blown up at the docks a while back. I'm sure there will be someone you can enjoy time with. At least you have friends! Right?" The mute is trying her best, even if her best is... yeah. <Handspeech>

Seyardu raises her own brow as well, but she smiles. "Ah, thiss one did not know either, but that iss good to hear, Braelnoir iss a good person, and thiss one expectss you are asss well bassed on your actionss."

She looks to Culix, and chuffs. "Thiss iss not a new thing, or rather, it ssort of iss? I do not undersstand it myself, and wass caught off guard. But thiss one iss ssure you can find ssomeone for yoursself, you are certainly enjoyable enough to be around."

"Oh that, that was stupid." Culix says, recalling the explosion at the docks. "I should have checked that dumb box before I opened it. I know better." she grumps. She rolls her eyes at the comforting gesture, but does smile a bit, "It's fine, it's fine. I have enough on my plate without worrying about getting involved, anyhow." she says then.

Culix sits up properly, "Speaking of- it was good to grab a bite to eat with you, but I gotta get going. Got a job on this evening." she adds then. "You two take care and, uh, maybe see if there's an ointment or something for that?" she suggests to Seyardu. "Looks kind of uncomfortable."

Aryia snickers, shaking her head. "Well now you doubly know to check random boxes."

She smiles, waving as Culix leaves. "Thanks for inviting me to dinner. Catch you later!"

Now alone with Seyardu, she watches her peeling-scaled friend for a beat. "... she's right though. You really need to get that fixed. Like. Soon." <Handspeech>

Seyardu chuffs, and nods. "I will see perhapss, but it is healing just fine. A bit sslow, but it iss. Only thing may be to find ssomething for the itchinessss."

The not so silverscale scratches at her arm, which while brown, is also looking pale around the edges. "I would like it to be fixed ssoon. At leasst, the lissp is not asss bad as before. I feel much more clear in my sspeaking again."

Aryia inspects the paling arm. Good, it looked like the silver was coming back. "I'm glad you're feeling a little better. You could probably get a wire brush and scrape most of the dead scales off. Might have an easier time growing the new ones in when they get there."

She leans back, tilting her chair on its back legs and propping her boots up on the table. "So..." she trails off, trying to think of something to talk about. "... okay. I was thinking of making you something, clothing wise, but I have no clue what you like, since sith-makar and clothes tend to not be something that goes together. Is there anything specific you'd like?" <Handspeech>

Seyardu leans back, and she shakes her head. "A metal brussh would not work that well, it could damage the oness growing underneath. Bathss are much better for that, which iss why I wass ssaddened by the lack of bathhoussess." She explains and laments, before she tilts her head. "Thiss is a strange missconception, clothess are jusst fine, though we tend towardss what would make ssensse for jungless. But, if you are trying to make clothess, the thicknessss of the cloth is an important conssideration..."

The cleric begins to explain, and settle into teaching the mul'niessa more about makari culture, and considerations that need to be made when skin is not soft.

-End Scene-
