Narrowing In

Yelrona is sitting in a high branch of a tree by the riverbank, carefully watching as boats go by.

The faerie dragon looks at Elian and sticks his forked tongue out at him and makes a raspberry sound.

Morgan gets a peach out and says "do either you like a peach slice." she is willing to share as she follows them down the path.

Ga'Elian says, "Thanks. I don't mind if I do. So, Morgan, are you currently working on enchanting anything?" He accepts some peach slices, then tosses them one by one for Sparklewing to snatch put of midair.

Morgan cuts it up and keeps the seed in a pouch "I am working on a belt for Rona, and I think when I am done with that I will make one for me."

Yelrona perks up as she hears Elian coming down the riverbank. "Good to see you again," she calls down from her high spot. "You too, Morgan!"

Ga'Elian waves and smiles at Yelrona. Says to Morgan, "Belts can certainly be useful. I know I'd never go anywhere without mine. Well, except swimming. How would that be to wear a belt swimming? I'm currently upgrading my cloak. It'll be cooling in heat, warming in cold; it'll multiply the benefits of my nightly trance, and it'll increase my resistance to illness, disease, and even the energy sapping attack of some creatures like the undead."

Morgan thinks for a moment "well when I can affored it I might enchant my boots so I can move faster, but I will look in to other things out there." she walks over to the tree Rona is in and offers a piece of a peach to Rona.

Yelrona listens distractedly to the talk of enchanting, and thanks Morgan for the offer. She invokes her Arcane Connection to lift a slice of peach slowly to her perch, eating it happily. "Delicious! I hadn't realized they were already in season here. Back in the Mythwood it would still be --" she cuts off at the sight of a schooner coming into the Warehouse Docks across the river, bearing a trade mark of a jeweled headband. "Ah! Excellent!" She jots down some notes in a small notebook.

Ga'Elian watches Rona's notetaking. He asks, "You've taken an interest in commercial shipping?"

Morgan nods "well she wants to get in to shiping or she wants to rob certian ships. If its the later we need to talk about more money with future enchments."

Yelrona chuckles at Elian's question. "No, in the Veyshanti slave trade. Like I said this afternoon, I'm pretty sure the Diadem Trading Company is smuggling slaves out of Alexandria to Veyshan under cover of their ordinary shipping... but pretty sure isn't certain. So I'm tracking the coming and going of their boats... especially ones that aren't running on their published schedule, like this one. Get enough points, I'll have a good enough picture to stop them."

Ga'Elian rubs his chin a moment. With things taking a serious turn, Sparklewing vanishes in a poof. Elian asks, "Wouldn't it be useful to plant a spy on board the ship, or some item to facilitate scrying or other observations?"

Morgan says to Rona "if you want I can make you invisible and fly for 5 minutes so you can check it out up and close." she has a serous look on her face as she hates slavery.

Yelrona nods. "Absolutely. If I had a spy handy to put on every ship I suspect of being involved in the slave trade, or items for clairvoyant scrying, I would do that instead. But I don't, so I use what I have." She nods to Morgan and adds "I will take you up on that as soon as I narrow down my list a bit more. There are dozens of these ships going out every day, so unless you have a lot of spells to spare, I'm not sure that's cost-effective."

Ga'Elian shrugs. "Well, I wasn't imagining you'd put a spy aboard every one, but if there are one or two that seem particulary likely, perhaps a spy on board might gather enough information to bust open the whole network."

Morgan nods "Well I dont know how to make rings yet, but you can use the spell to get in the werehouse to check things out in there. I my self would fireball the place after we get the inocents out."

Yelrona nods enthusiastically to Elian. "Right, exactly! So what I'm doing is narrowing the field to figure out the one or two that seem most likely, so we can use the resources we have effectively." She shrugs apologetically to both him and Morgan. "I'm sorry... if I knew enough to identify the targets, I'd have gone to the Adventurer's Guild already and assembled a party to blow them to pieces. But sometimes it takes investigation to identify the target, before we can loose the arrow. It's not exciting, I know... but it's the tool I have."

Morgan nods "Also remember to loot the place of the good stuff so it hurt thier gold pouch."

Ga'Elian nods to Yelrona. To Morgan he says, "I share your enthusiasm, but can also see reasons to not wreak destruction in so attention-getting a way, at least until one knows the full details of the operation."

"Oh, I'm all in favor of fireballing the bastards and pocketing their gold," Rona observes. "Just... I need to find out who, and where, and when, first. Otherwise we're just blowing up random buildings... which, while fun, probably doesn't accomplish much at the end of the day."

Morgan nods "well come to me if you need help with things, I also have some divination spells that might help."

Ga'Elian says, "And tipping off the perpetrators to your inquisition before you know enough to catch all of them."

"I absolutely will," Rona tells Morgan, "thanks! That will make a huge difference when the time comes. And, right," she says to Elian, "see, you're getting more sophisticated in these matters all the time! Ultimately my target here is the Syndicate, not Diadem... if we take down the field-level agents, the people in charge just find new agents."

Morgan says "Then take out the good agents and make sure bad ones get picked up. Slopy and bad workers make things easier."

Ga'Elian nods. "Well, now that we've hashed out those issues, I'm hot and I'd like to cool off. I think it's time to take a swim before I head back out to meet Erithamiel tonight. I have a little time to pass before then, to let him eat whatever he's hunting." At this, he strips and heads down into the river.

Yelrona nods to Morgan. "Yup, that's a great idea," she agrees, marking a few more notes in her book as the ship she identified docks at the Warehouse District. "It's a great way to destroy their effectiveness without making it obvious who we are and where we're firing from. Oh.. OK, Eli, have a good swim!" Her gaze lingers on his backside as he enters the water.

FaerieDragon has left.

Morgan looks to Elian and says "enjoy your swim." She thinks for a bit and says to Rona "To bad Whisper is not my finilr, he can hide better then most rouges and he has a sense of things that would be moving in crates."

Yelrona tilts her head to one side. "Whisper? Is that the pseudodragon I met the other day?"

Morgan nods "he loves to hide in the libary and try to scare me some times."

Ga'Elian has left.

Yelrona smiles fondly. "That sounds sweet."

Morgan chuckles and says "the little bugger also steals the apples I keep in my haversack, or some times my things to do a hide and seak."

"Yes, they are playful creatures. I forget whose familiar you said they were?"

Morgan floats up to a branch to be eye level "Celheer is his first name, I have not botherd to learn his last one." you can tell she does not care fr him much.

Yelrona laughs. "So, you only befriend him for his familiar? That's cold, Morgan." She doesn't seem disapproving, though.

Morgan chuckles "I made friends with most wizards ones. But some times I wish Whisper was mine, he is so funny."

"Is there a reason you don't have a familiar of your own?" Rona wonders

Morgan nods "my mentor did not know how to do that, so I bonded to a item." like most mages she does not let on what it is.

"Ah, I see. Well, that's perhaps for the best. Items are easier to take care of."

Morgan nods "Well I learned how to do it. So I may or may not do that down the line."

Yelrona tilts her head curiously. "I'm not that familiar with wizard practice. Can you choose a familiar at any time?"

Morgan nods "with in limits, you have to share the same day to day way to live. Like how I can not have celestial hawk, they are a bit stuffy and help people that restore law and order."

Yelrona smiles. "That's not in your line, then?"

Morgan shakes her head "much like a ex friend said I tend to be to selfish. I just like to do what I want to do and whats wrong with that."

Yelrona nods. "So what do you want to do? In general, I mean."

Morgan shrugs "explore the world, advance magic and when that is all done with settle down and be some ones wife."

Yelrona nods. "Those sound like good goals."

Morgan nods "I have a few other ones but they align with the others."

"Sensible."
