Spooky October

Halloweengobber.jpg

Float on in with Spooky October! Help us celebrate this Haunted month by:

A: Run 1 PrP with a spoooooooky story!
B: Draw, sketch, compose a spooooooky picture or poem, and then RP about it! (Update: we changed this to 1x from 2x)!

...and: receive a 1/2 level on a character of your choice! You can do it as many times as you like, but it has to always apply to a different character!

Runs until the end of October!

(Extended) Storyful September

September isn't October. October has Halloween! It has ghosts, and spooky stories. But do you know what September DOES have?

Stories!

It has YOUR stories, and we'd love for you to tell them! This September, get ongrid and share your story! Do two POPs (Personal Ongrid Plots), or run Two Events and get:

  • A character of your choice advanced to level 10; or,
  • A new character made at level 10!

...plus 10 RPP to help you kickstart, or continue your story, the way you wish to!

Runs until Christmas!

Otyugh Health and Maintenance!

Tribune: Health and Maintenance Needs YOUR Help!

Otyugh sightings-1.jpg

"Sa der rumps ur gettin rider wut noa."

"He means: the otyughs are fattening up for winter."

Two men came inside the Tribune office. One of them, a grizzled veteran of Gilead. Another, a harried-looking priest. At first, I had a hard time with the gentleman from the woods, but with some patience, and help, on the priest's part, I began to understand his rough, but romantic language.

The otyughs are getting fat for the winter.

The Temple of Gilead is putting out a bounty, too, for accounts of these creatures, and rough estimates of their size and weight. I've etched a chart in this article for reference!

"Piddler" 250 pounds
"Rumper" 300 pounds
"Gittindere" 400 pounds
"Chonks" 500+ pounds

You can help the temple, and the health of our city otughys (and our sewage and health maintenance systems!) by picking up a chart at the Temple of Gilead, and helping gauge the health of our otyughs!

OOC: This is a fun and goofy opportunity for RP, inspired by Alaska's bear event! You're welcome to tie this into any existing PoP or RP, or make it your own. Anyhow! Send me a log (via +request/prp or @mail) and I'll award you 5 RPP!

Let's have some fun! XD

Runs until the end of October!

Bizarre Bazaar Changes!

Hey! So we are announcing some upgrades to the Bazaar!

You know those amazing things you find on adventures? Or that item your PC had spent all of that time on? Then, something happens and--oh no! You need to sell it!

There is always more story in another player picking up the item, rather than it going to the Ethereal of Gamevoid! We'd like to encourage that!

So, here's what we are going to do! If you put your item up on the bazaar, listed no more than 70% of full price, and it stays up there for a month -- Staff will buy it at 60% of the retail price, instead of 50%.

This way, yes, it does have to sit up there for a bit. But, at the end of that time, if no one else wants to buy it, then you still get more than you would if you sold it to us to begin with (we normally buy only at 50).

How this works:

1. Player puts up the item on the Bazaar in their usual way! As flashy as they like or not, listing the price between 50 and 70 of the full value.
2. Unfortunately, either the demand isn't high or the stars just aren't lining up, and so it lingers for a month!
3. Player puts in a PURCH request at the end of it and goes "HEY! STAFF! No one wants to buy my stuff! :| Can you buys it?"
4. Staff completes it and pays the player 60 of the market value (ensuring that the player gets more than they would otherwise if they sold it).

What do you think? Let's give it a go! :D

(P.S. There is one caveat. /DO NOT/ use this to craft items and then sell them back to the staff at profit. If you do that, there will be words. :| )

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!

Latest Rumors in Alexandria!

Editorials and Poems of the Rainbow Dragon!

Just posted to the Alexandrian Tribune!

"An Ode to Alexandria's Greatest Hero!"

There once was an elf named Sandy
She liked to dress up as a dandy.
In her multicolour coat
She'd sail her leaf boat
and give all the orphans her candy.
Signed,
Norbish Glick-glack of Happy Valley, on behalf of the Happy Valley Sandy Appreciation Society

OOC: Thank you, Oh Nameless Sparkle-Knight of Magical Wonder, for this great piece. XD Submissions are still open! :D

Sandy the Rainbow Dragon Spotted?!

As such tales do, this one begins in a bar. Just the other night, the following conversation was overheard:

"...didn't know what I was seein' at first."
"Eh?"
"Well, it looked just like a big shadow! Ginormous! Turned out it was a dragon!"
"I think you've had enough, Jorge..."
"Neh, neh--look, am I tha sort of man to make things up??"
"Well, no--"
"Then listen! I saw a dragon! And a bloody rainbow one at that!!"

OOC: Sandy the Legendary Rainbow Dragon has been spotted over Alexandria! This is totally a true rumor, and not at all drunken tales in the shadowy corners of bars!

In celebration of this most momentous of occasions, please send us your drawings of rainbow dragons! We will publish them on the front page of our site (if you like), and in the Alexandrian Tribune! Also, in the spirit of the promotion of Lady Sandiel's Tears, we will award 10 BONUS RPPs to everyone who sends one in!!!

Murder and Plague!

Murders: There have been a string of murders perpetrated by a cult known only as the “Black Masks”. The murders have been seemingly random: the victims have been people of all classes and races. The only thing which the murders have in common is that a black mask has been left on each of the bodies. Adventurers have found that the Black Masks believe that these murders will cease the other deaths that have been happening in the city due to the plague.

Due to a recent article in the Alexandrian Tribune highlighting that belief, some citizens have taken it upon themselves to address the plague. Lately, there have been a number of attacks made on citizens of the city, even those who may not be carriers of the plague.

What is known is that the leader of the Black Masks who is only known as “Mask”, and claims to be a prophet of Vardama (the goddess of death). So far any and all attempts to apprehend him have ended in failure but citizens have been warned to be on the lookout for anyone wearing a black mask as they may be a member of this particular organization.

Vampire: A strange green-eyed and dark haired vampire has been spotted in Alexandria and its surrounding regions on several occasions. This vampire seems quite powerful, able to walk in sunlight and has made off with several citizens of the city. All of them seem willing to go with the man, but civilians are warned not to interact with him, and adventurers have been put on alert to be distrustful of his presence. It is unclear his motivations as of yet, but knowing his ilk one can not imagine that he works for the good of the city.

Latest Rumors in the Wilderness!

In the wilderness, there have been a multitude of sightings of strange plants and creatures. Though at first glance some creatures appear ordinary, others display unusual characteristics, shapes, or even odors. Worse, many of them seem to be quite hostile and actively attack those who go out into the wilds around the city. While this issue does not seem to extend far from Alexandria, scout reports suggest it is gradually becoming worse and worse.

Do not be surprised, then, if you go out into the woods and find a squirrel with two tails and razor sharp teeth, or a tree which picks up its roots and wanders off. Such things are becoming the norm, and no one seems to know the exact source of what is happening besides the assumption that the land has somehow become tainted or corrupted.

The Plague

As if things were not bad enough, a deadly plague has struck the citizens of Alexandria! This plague has all the symptoms of a flu, yet one that leads inevitably to the deaths of those who catch it. So far, there has been no sight of a cure. Even magical means seem to be utterly useless. It has been so deadly that it has caused fear and panic to spread to the streets of the city and rumors run rampant about possible “cures”; charlatans are out in the shadows seeking easy money from others’ fears.

This plague causes those who are killed by it to turn into zombies. When burned, the dead return as ghosts intent on spreading the very thing that killed them. It seems there is no end to the plague’s horror. Thanks to rumors, it has even driven some people to murder after hearing that the Black Masks, who normally served as an upstanding cult of Vardama, saw targeted murders as a means to end the plague.

There is a bright spot of hope, however. Recently, several revelations have been made when it comes to the source, the kind of illness that it is, how it affects and infects, and what might be done to stop its forward progression. There’s even been an actual delay invented by a local wizard who discovered a potion which can stop the illness in its tracks for a time. Though currently being placed in the dungeon of the Arcanist’s Guild where there is no magic seems the best remedy, it is certainly not one which can be made for everyone.

Get Involved in the Game!

  • Perform a roleplay in which your character notices a disturbance in the city; a civilian being attacked by someone who’s trying to stop the plague!
  • Perform a roleplay about the tainted wilderness in which your character finds an unusual plant or animal. Or perhaps is even attacked by one!
  • Get involved with the LEGwork! There’s tons of information located in the current arcs under Zehier, and Hidden Faces about these storylines.
Zehir arc page: http://tenebraemush.net/index.php/Category:Zeheir
Hidden Faces arc page: http://tenebraemush.net/index.php/Category:Hidden_Faces
  • Ask to be included in the LEGwork on the MUSH, itself!
  • Roleplay with others involved in the plot! Talk with players on the Gaming Table, or look for those connected to the LEGwork!
  • There are a lot of other Current Arcs up as well. Any one of these could be inspiration for an amazing roleplay!

You are also welcome to contact staff with ideas for RP hooks for your character. We are happy to help!
