When last we left our brave heroes, they were dealing with a spider attack while guarding the 'thumper' that had been set up in an effort to draw out the 'pygmy bulette' that Ilwa wanted to steal from her rival's hunting efforts.

So far, all you've got to show for it are GIANT SPIDERS trying to EAT YOU.

Izpapalotl, in all her crimson and charcoal armoured glory, lets out a massive hiss and then bends down. The hydraulics on her legs groan and then she leaps forward with astonishing force, smashing into a spider. Goo from inside its external skeleton spatters on the ground as the lizard roars into it.

Sora grips her greatsword tightly, her stance different than most who wield such a blade. She moves forward her blade moving with her as if they were dancing. Despite the grace of her movements they appear more focused on power than precision as the blade rips into the spider leaving a shattered mess.

She's lost, as is pretty usual when Tirry's in combat.. Still, look, a spider! Tirry mutters some words and well out flies a beam of red energy, this smacking one of the spiders and well maybe burning it a bit? Tirry tilts her head and umms "Yeah best spell I have and it doesn't wipe it out." She mutters, and hands go to her hips as her tail twitches annoyedly...

The wounded spider quickly begins spinning a web, attaching it between two trees and then climbing up one. It's an animal.

A spider goes flying at Sora, now, given that she's covered in numy, tasty squishy spider-guts.

It does not succeed in landing on her.

Strike decides to try something different, the quarterstaff chuffs into the ground as she leans back on one foot and unleashes a quick trio of snap kicks at the spider in her personal space. It'd be more impressive if more than the middle kick landed, but there it is.

Daechir is slow to respond to the spider menace, but once he gets over the shock of their sudden appearance he draws his rapier smoothly and stabs one. It's not a killing strike, but every little bit helps when one is attacked.

Lollia's ray goes firing off over a spider! No doubt she looks unhappy about this.

Sora dances once more with her blade and rends the life from another spider.

...as the thumper continues to vibrate, it would appear that these spiders were just the precursors to the much larger one.

Yes, that's right. YOu can feel its approach by the vibrations of its own as spider the size of an elephant storms onto the scene.

It has a similar coloration to the other spiders present. Perhaps they're the same 'breed'?

Daed moves in a little closer, trying to narrow down who the spider can attack and also fence it in so that it can not escape easily.

Thus far, Lollia hasn't been super effective....but she falls back on her go to spell as the spider stalks forward, her eyes getting wide as she does her best cute blonde girl scream queen scream...that dopples up and out of hearing range as she makes some quick spell gestures, focusing it on the spider itself.

The enormous lizard tears into one of the spiders, devouring it ravenously. She missed lunch earlier, and giant insects are a food group where she is from. Then Lollia is screaming and Izzy's rounded, saurian head goes up. She stares at the ogre spider she'd previously ignored- and then lobs her half-eaten arachnid at its giant brethren before strolling after it, clacking her jaw. "It's rude to interrupt meal time," the lizard observes in her complacent, hard to read way. It's usually the same tone of voice. Maybe she needs to learn vocal inflections.

Sora moves closer to the spider with dancing style that she has shown and lays into the massive creature with her greatsword. It scores a hit and seems to hurt the large spider.

The last remaining spider, the one that scurried up the trees out of the way, is staying up there. It's weaving more webs.

Tirry is well she's kind of lost! Now there's a gigantic giant spider "Where dot hey find these things!" She calls out, and more mumbling before a thin red beam lances out of her outstretched hand, striking the spider and well scorching it a bit... "Sooo gotta learn more..."S he mutters, squinting her eyes a bit…

Whatever else may be said of Lollia - girl has a good set of lungs on her. She takes a big breath, then lets out a second shriek that makes dogs howl somewhere, snapping out the same set of gestures as she moves to put herself a bit more behind Izzy, focusing the sound attack on the spider again.

Sora is trying to draw the spider's attention as she slashes at it again with her greatsword, cutting into it deeply once more. She dances with her blade, as if the two were one.

The spider bite has Izzy bleeding massively as she stumbles and rocks about. The lizard narrows her yellow eyes at it and hisses. She's obviously in pain, even stumbling. The burly, seemingly invincible Saurian monster on her last legs. So she reels back- and bites down on the Ogre Spider's extended face, full force, until ichor oozes from the wound. She does not, however, swallow. She's learned her lesson.

GAME: NeverSleepsPool rolls 1d20+8: (3)+8: 11

The spider is, of course, out of commission. It's sort of wobbling and flailing around thanks to Lollia's successful spells, and now it's bleeding quite badly.

Daechir makes another attempt to stab the spider, but it's hard exterior repels his blade quite easily. The mul'niessa curses under his breath, loathe to use one of his spells, but he has been unable to injure this thing with this weapon even a little.

Lollia doesn't let up! Well to take a breath, but then right back to another scream! This time, however, the spider's eardrums or whatnot appear to have already burst so it's just not that bothered, and shakes it off almost immediately. "....oh nutbunnies..." Lollia notes, backpedalling a bit.

GAME: NeverSleepsPool rolls 1d4: (3): 3
GAME: Itzpapalotl casts Burning Hands. Caster Level: 3 DC: 13

Izzy rears back again and this time she's leaning back again. She opens her jaw wide, and there's the click of an igniter firing. And then the lizard does her best impression of a Saurian flamethrower as fire spews from her and washes over the shrieking spider. Shortly thereafter, the lizard staggers and half tumbles to the ground beside her burning, screeching foe.

Sora has continued dancing with her blade. She notices the creature go down, but is pretty sure she still sees it twitching a bit, so to be on the safe side, she will drive her blade deep. Better to be safe than sorry. She glances around to look at the others as she takes a look at her surroundings, "Is there any others?"

"I /hope/ not! That was more than enough of one!" Lollia points out tartly, having drawn her bow just in case by this point as she eyes the downed, twitching arachnid. "....I guess that was the mother spider or something? Or whatever..." She frowns, looking around uncertainty.

There's still one spider left. In the trees. But it looks like it's not going to attack. In fact, it's just staying there and not doing anything, a bit away from the rest of you.

Meanwhile, the thumper is continuing to thump.

Ilwa suddenly reappears, taking a ring off her finger. So that's where she got to.

"I /hate/ spiders," she mutters, "but hopefully we'll get the Pygmy Bulette soon! It's got to be in this area based on all available geographic markers!"

The ground beneath your feet definitely maintains a sense of vibration to it.

...and then it appears. The pygmy bulette.

It bursts through the ground at the heart of the thumper with a teensy 'rawr!'.

It is perhaps a foot long. There are larger Iguanas, for god's sake.

It makes another rawr sound.

It's... actually almost kinda cute.

Also, albino.

Lollia stares. "....oh my /goddess/ that is so adorably cute!" she squeals!
