Introducing the Acquisitioners

Erendriel flies into the district on her flaming chopper, as she so often does. Having a good time, using magic to protect herself from the weather, zooming over head, and down swooping toward the Elunite temple. There seems to be a gathering there. A mix largely of Inquisitors and various shady looking people.

Kaj exits the Temple of Angoron about the same time, smiling as he sees the sorceress he so recently met.

"Hallo!" he booms, waving once though perhaps not fast enough to get her attention.

The Gobbo wanders into the area, heading in the general direction of the Temple of Angoron. She moves a bit faster. "Kaj!", she calls out, and is soon climbing the man's back, settling upon his shoulder. Murder shoos the ravens, banishing them to the other shoulder.

Erendriel isn't flying that fast as she goes by Angoron, so she drops down a bit to make it easy to wave to and speak with Murder and Kaj as she approaches. "Hi... just on my way to meet with the Acquistioners, anything good going on?"

Kaj shakes his head, smililng down at her. "No, Sorceress, though perhaps now there is, if I might head with you to the meeting?" he asks.

The ravens have racously relocated to his other shoulder and lean back and forwards to try to make eye contact with Murder to give her The Eye.

Kaj barely noticed her climbing up, though he does hold out his fist to her when she reaches her perch--it is about the size of her head.

Murder bumps Kaj's fist with hers and offers Erendriel a wave. "Ooh, good, I get to be the Gobbo on the shoulder in that meeting." She giggles to herself and leans closer to Kaj's head. "So how are things, Kaj?"

Erendriel glances at the ravens, and to each of the people. "I did tell you what the Acquistioners are, right? Lot of Elunite Inquisitors and some clerics in there. Quiet missions to get evil artifacts and stuff. And to find out about them. Does that interest you two?"

"Haulin' and Healin', es ever!" replies Kaj, who is in effect always down at the docks where he makes his silver as a stevedore and spends his downtime healing people and animals alike.

When Erendriel speaks, he smiles his huge smile, "I am, and since she has to go wherever I walk, she is too. Lead on!"

"First I've heard of it. And daw, you don't get to keep the stuff you find? Where's the fun in that?" The Gobbo pouts slightly, but she grins toothily moments later. "But yeah, it does sound interesting..." Murder looks askance to Kaj. "I can get down any time I wanna."

Erendriel giggles. "Oh gods, I mean, no we don't keep what we find. The point is to keep, you konw, dangerous artifacts out of the wrong hands. Things that belong in a museum, or should be sent to the outer planes, or even disabled or destroyed. IT's dangerous though, lot of wizards and stuff who are using strong magic for bad reasons."

"I am very interested," replies Kaj, "Whether we keep things or not," he adds, raising his brow at Murder then turning to follow Erendriel.

Murder snorts at Kaj and shakes her head. She looks to Erendriel. "Lay on, McDuff, lay on!", the Gobbo says in a scratchy voice. "We'll entertain the propositions!"

Erendriel nods and gestures for them to follow from one temple to the other. "My first mission wasn't THAT crazy. It involved some dangerous scrolls created by a cult, that were designed to trick people into accidentally destroying Alexandria. We caught them before things could ever get serious."

"Not that crazy? What, exactly, is crazy in your mind?", Murder wonders of Erendriel, after her telling of her first mission. "Someone tossing scrolls about meant to trick people into destroying Alexandria is totally nuts!"

Erendriel giggles. "Well what I mean was, there was no real danger. Agents in Myrddion knew it was coming, and warned us. We watched the docks, waited for the ship to come. And I burned up the crate as soon as it was on the dock."

The Gobbo huffs. "Shoulda burned it the moment the ship was positively identified. Teach 'em a harsh lesson." She crosses her arms and grins toothily. "But I suppose doing that would make some questions you might have had impossible to answer."

Erendriel snickers. "Yeah I mean. Um. We don't know how they got that information. It could put someone in danger to be too quick. This way, it looked like Alexandria was just strong and careful, you konw?"

"True, perhaps. But there is benefit to burning the ship the moment its sails are spotted. For one, they'll wonder what happened." Murder gestures with a hand. "Was it chance? Was there an informant somewhere? Since the ship was targeted, not their crate specifically... they might continue to operate, giving you loads more time to trace them back to the source."

Erendriel nods. "That's a good point, and one we can bring up in the meeting. When all of this happened, I was a brand new member. And this was actually my, you know, test mission. Watching the ships and all that. This helped me become a full member."

Murder grins toothily once again, and clings to Kaj's shoulders as he maneuvers his way through the gathering. "How long ago was that, then, Erendriel? Has your standing improved greatly since then?"

Ignis has arrived.

Erendriel flies along, and nods to Murder. "It was months ago. Like three? Something like that. Things have been busy since I moved here."

The Gobbo slouches lazily upon Kaj's left shoulder, and she chuckles at Erendriel. "Alexandria is always busy, even in the dead of Winter, and in the dead of night. It's fascinating how busy you Humans... ah, sorry, Half-elves, get to being."

The unusual group has attracted a few observers for fairly obvious reasons. There's a woman riding a broom and a goblin riding a colossus of a giantborn by even their standards. Naturally this is attention grabbing.especially if you're not exactly used to the colorful sights and sounds of a city as varied and cosmopolitan as Alexandria..which pretty much describes Ignis.

Still he's got the sights and experience of a youth in Bryn Myridorn under his belt..so he eventually shakes off being shell shocked long enough to stand from where he was seated at the fountain, facing the temple of Daeus. The metallic ringing of his armor and weaponry can be heard under his looser cloak as he starts to approach the trio.

"Merry Yule, people. I trust all is well?" He arcs an eyebrow in amusement, having only caught some of the conversation but it's enough to be more then just a little interesting, "..Are we planning on setting some ships on fire? A new tradition or an Alexandrian one I need to get used to?"

Erendriel waves to Ignis. "No, I was explaining why it may not be wise to set ships on fire, even if the ship is planning harm, because it may prevent us from preventing future harm if like, we let people know we know what they know."

Erendriel then adds to Murder "Well, for me it's like, the city. It's so big."

The Gobbo shrugs to Erendriel. "It is a big city, yeah. I can see how it can be overwhelming. Hah, try being a shortfolk like me. Ya find out quick that everywhere smells funny." She peers at Ignis a little, her head canted. Murder grins toothily at the man, and straightens. "I was arguing that setting a ship on fire before it makes port gives the bad guys some pause, but since you haven't directly targeted their stuff, they will be left wondering what happened. It's a way to destroy some evil without letting the evil ones know you're paying attention."

Ignis's eyes widen and his smile broadens in a sort of 'Oh so you guys are craaaazzzyy' sort of expression.. But the thought seems to only amuse him as opposed to make him get huffy as one might expect of the traditional Paladin type. In fact he nearly bursts into a laugh but ultimately ends up hooding his eyes slightly and looking down to the cobblestones of the plaza with that grin still on his face.

"Well.." he finally ventures, "..There is something to be said for taking a pre-emptive strike and doing so in a way to scare off any future attackers... And also just sowing confusion among enemies. However..that sort of plan could also cause well meaning ships to avoid port. They may think the route is cursed?"

Erendriel giggles to Murder. "The smaller you are, the harder some things are. And the easier other things are. I woudln't want to be any bigger than I am. Anyway, I'm not against preemptive strikes, but, I was just following instructions, since sometimes, secrecy is very important in Acquistioners missions."

Murder nods in reply to Erendriel. "Yeah, different heights have different advantages. Though sometimes I wish I were bigger. I mean, there are spells for such things though." The Gobbo taps her temple, and then looks to Ignis. "Ah, that's just a matter of planning. Find a good spot to set the ship aflame. You can't just do it randomly, but you can aim to have it look like it was done so."

The Gobbo looks back to Erendriel. "And yeah, I guess following instructions in the beginning is good... but I betcha they trust you now, and that you can get away with some... creative flexing of their plans."

Kaj clears his throat, loudly. "Bigger is better," he deadpans as he keeps walking, giving Ignis a once over and an upnod.

"Ahh..so mission based instructions?" It begins to get a little clearer to Ignis now who then nods in agreement with Murder although he winces a little bit at her last addition. "Well..within reason but.." he pauses in thought as if recalling something and then says, "Though sometimes you may have to get a little unreasonable and flex quite abit if lives are at stake.."

He finally nods to both ladies and up at the colossus, "My name is Ignis. I'm newly arrived here. I didn't mean to intrude but your conversation was..uh..pretty fascinating." He then smirks a little and adds as Kaj chimes in, "Somehow I'm not surprised you would say that."

Erendriel nods to Murder. "If I know enough, that the instructions are wrong, I'll do what's right. But I didn't know any better, so I did what I was asked. And this time, it worked. Hello Ignis, I'm Erendriel of Sendor."

Murder pokes Kaj in the ear a moment, before giggling. "Especially if you wanna be able to see anything." She looks to Ignis and nods. "My name is Murder.", she says proudly. "And my Giantborn friend here is Kaj."

"Well met, Ignis!" booms Kaj, smiling at down at Ignis in response to his comment about not being surprised. "Come along then, join the Little People and me as Sorceress Erendriel inducts us into the mysteries of the Acquisitionist--those who can fight evil and win! But struggle with 'is it a verb or is it a noun' sort of questions.

"Your -name- is Murder??" asks Ignis with a huge grin on his face that he just gives up on hiding, "Do I want to know..why and how?"

He feels his body rattle at Kaj's booming voice and looks to him and then Eren curiously before adding, "I've never made it as far south as Sendor. I'm from The High Kingdom directly..and The Holy See but...the Acquisitionist? I'm not familiar.."

Erendriel snickers. "Murder is a perfectly fine name in some cultures, I always assumed. Even if it's different in mine. And uh, the Acquistioners are a group founded by some Elunite Inquisitioners to find and recover dangerous artifacts and magical items that are being abused against the principles of Eluna, specifically regarding the appropraite use of magic."

Murder squeaks at the booming voice, and she bounces her heels off of Kaj's shoulders. She grins toothily at Ignis. "Is it really any different than Ignis?", she wonders. "I named myself, cause it is what I do. Gotta revenging I need t'get to doing some time, and there will be some killin'."

"Murder and Fire, sounds like we'll be needing a bard before this story is over," Kaj offers, turning to Erendriel. "Sorceress, will the meeting begin soon? We dally here and risk missing the proceedings, do we not?"

"Well..I mean....No..I suppose in practice it isn't.." falters Ignis, not really able to come up with an arguement for or against such a naming convention, "Names do have meanings..but it is not often you come across someone using a Tradespeak..uh..version of a word for a name. I don't know anybody named..I don't know, uh, Fishing." He shrugs in admission that there really is no reason why not though he does arc an eyebrow thoughtfully as he considers the mention of revenging and killing.." He looks to Eren and then to Kaj before adding, "So you go to a recruitment meeting? I will pass and allow you three to move on. I can barely keep up with the Temple of Daeus and The Lost Crown and The Guild. Recovering magic and dealing with its misuse is a noble task though."

Erendriel folds her arms. "Didn't realize that Murder. I hope the people who did wrong get what you have coming. And Kaj, sure yeah, let's go? Good to meet you, Ignis. A small village in Sendor is very different from the great cities on the coast. Good luck."

The Gobbo peers at Kaj and rolls her eyes a moment. "Well, with you we have storm and wind covered, yes?" She grins toothily at the Giantborn, before glancing to Ignis. "I am sure you can handle one more gathering. Can't hurt to watch and listen, yes?" She clings tightly to the Giantborn as he makes ready to go.

"..No....it wouldn't." answers Ignis with only a brief pause of hesitation. "Whether or not I'm in such a group..If I'm able, I'm willing to help out on such matters though. It would be expected of me, as my duty and calling to assist in matters of keeping magic out of corrupt hands or destroying evil magic." There's a pause of thought and then Ignis gives an easy going smile, "But that doesn't mean I need to be in the order itself...and if it is patroned by Eluna then getting information on them from my peers should be easy enough. I may still drop by." He stops his side by side walk with them, as Kaj is no doubt using his long stride to keep pace with Eren, "Enjoy yourselves though! I am sure we will meet again!"
