  • Summary: Cryosanthia is sitting by the fountain, handing out cherry icicle treats when Irshya, Seldan, Kira arrive. The icy sith demonstrates her process, freezing an icicle with a Ray of Frost cantrip around a squirt of cherry pie filling in the fountain water. The children seem to be enjoying them, both as weapons and treats and she makes a few for the adults as well. Sabina arrives. Seldan's concern is that everyone is prepared for the effort to confront Salina, and is assured. Cryo makes a joke about getting Oil of Slipperiness to avoid the demon's whip when Zeke arrives. She makes it again, and he reacts badly, which pushes her into an unhappy depression. She makes to leave, but the others encourage her and Zeke to go somewhere private and discuss things, so they do.

The air of solemn, heavy divinity in the area is often broken by laughter. The dual presence of the deities Althea and Daeus, man and wife, stand towards the center, with their children and their children's temples positioned around them. The presence of the divine is felt not only by their temples, but also by the actions of their worshipers. The great plaza is as a social center, paved in brilliant, white flagstones and covered in benches and sitting areas. Priests, acolytes, and servicefolk of all stripes roam the plaza, going from one task to the other.

At the front of the temples of Daeus and Althea, at the Plaza's centermost point, rests a great fountain, the cheerful waters reflecting the Sun during the day, and the Moon and Stars at night. The fountain is strategically centered, and is oft a place for wisdom and lesson-giving. It is not uncommon for a priest of some stripe or the other to stand there, surrounded by the curious and faithful, delivering messages of hope or contemplation. At other times, it and the plaza become a landscape of celebration of the holy holidays.

Few vendors are seen in the plaza--the nearby temples provide most food or services. Towards the west, the great Bridge stretches across the river, and towards the east, the Redridge mountains. The plaza rests in the midst of it all, the temples massive and grand on the Alexandrian scale.

A beautiful day today brings out the joy and cheerfulness in everyone, it seems, for the temple district in full sunshine is alive with shrieks of laughter and sermons delivered in the clear blue sunshine.

Not all are inclined to play, though. Seldan emerges from the Temple of Eluna, in full armor, weapon belt, bow, quiver, cloak, and adventuring pack all in evidence as one who means to set out on a journey, and pauses at the bottom of the stairs, eyes on the sky.

Cryosanthia is sitting on the fountain rim, with her tail curled over to the side and her clothing tucked under herself so it's not near the water. She is wearing a combination of mithril and white leathers, and has a small whitescale haversack across her shoulders, underneath a short cape. She has no weapons.

She's holding a small wine-skin and seems to be engaged in some sort of minor project. She squirts something from the bottle into the water, and immediately after casts a Ray of Frost cantrip that hits the same spot. Then, she picks a large icicle out of the water, and trapped within is a snake-shape of colour. This is handed off to any child that is nearby.

Glancing around the white sith sees Seldan exit the Temple of Eluna, and waves, attempting to catch his attention once he's stopped looking at the sky.

It is a beautiful day, and Kira also looks up to the sky, then out to those frolicking under it, after she steps from The Healer's temple. Today she carries no basket, and isn't wearing flour as an accessory to her robe and tabard. The waving fountain-sitting sith gets her attention, and she offers a wave of her own, even if the original wasn't directed at her.

Getting Seldan's attention is not all that difficult, and he turns at the wave in his direction, and changes his steps to approach the fountain. A number of those at the fountain give his attire a long, wary look, but he ignores that, instead inclining his head, first to the sith-makar, and then to the Sentinel as well. "Peace upon your nests, and Her light shine upon your path, both of you. You are prepared?" The question is calm, even, quintessential Seldan.

While Cryo is peering at Seldan, a wee blue form swims around from the other side of the fountain. A small fin, and tailtip, cause ripples as the form swims along, and a short time later the Goblin stands up. To sniff at the wineskin Cryosanthia holds in her hand. "Irshya bring Rada's blessings!", she calls out cheerfully to the white-scale Sith seated upon the Fountain's rim. She glances to Seldan and Kira then, and offers a toothy smile and wave, "Rada's blessings to you both!" The wee woman is clad in a swimsuit that nearly matches her skin colour. Embroidered in the top right side of the 'suit is a symbol of Rada.

"Everything I own is with me, Sir Seldan, in the haversack Malik made for me and has been for weeks. Every day I dance and fence. Yesterday I bought candied crickets and Fish at the market, in case Fae or Tanith needs bribing, and a few other things. I am as prepared as I can be." Cryosanthia answers, dipping her head.

"Oh, hello, thank you for Rada's blessings." Her wineskin smells sugary, and like cherry.

The whitescale waves at Kira, having seen her also. She gestures with the wineskin, "Anyone want an ice thing?"

"It's good to see you all," Kira greets with a smile as she arrives at the fountain. A nod follows to Seldan. "I am." She nearly adds a similar caveat as Cryosanthia, but decides to leave it short and simple. Maybe due to the white-scale's question, as she looks to the wineskin, then the child with the 'ice thing' and back. "Oh, thank you...but, please, treat the children."

Seldan raises eyebrows curiously at the treats Cryosanthia's passing out, his interest evident, but he, too, nods. "One such would please me, but indeed would I see the children treated first. A fascinating notion." The splash out of the fountain draws his eye, and he adds a smile for Irshya. "And to you, little one. You are kind." He draws a breath, then lets it out, looking up the hill. "I have one more errand to see to, ere I go, but I am nearly prepared."

"Irshya wonders what... what an ice thing is?", the Gobbo asks of Cryosanthia. "Wineskin smells interesting." Kira is eyed curiously, and Irshya waves to the woman. "Lady is not giving bread out today?"

Seldan gets a toothy grin. "Eluna says Her light on your path, yes?"

The white sith nods, repeating her process. Another carefully timed squirt and spell, then she is reaching into the fountain and removing an icicle with a coloured swirl inside it. She holds it out and it is taken immediately by a passing child. Cryo watches her run off, "It seems too cold for softskins to hold for long, they keep switching hands. Also, they don't always eat it. Sometimes they bash each other with them like sword-sticks. They don't last long."

Indeed, there seem to be several melting icicles about, leaving small sticky stains like some invisible battle with tiny opponents just occurred. The sith shrugs and keeps making them, "I may need an alternate kind," and some of the children are return children, back for a fragile weapon and not a sugary treat. Of course, some of them eat the pieces off the ground afterwards, so it works out. She holds the wineskin out so Irishya can sniff it, "It's cherry syrup, for making pies, thinned with some cherry juice, then I freeze it in the water. So it's a cherry icicle, I guess."

Cryo makes another and holds it out to Seldan, "Please, here, they're quick enough. What is your last Errand?"

Kira looks to the children enjoying them, and can't help but smile more, even if she'd prefer they were just eaten as treats. She then shakes her head to Irshya. "No, I'm not helping with the bread, today, but there are others who are, if you'd like some. You can also receive some at the temple."

Kira is also curious of Seldan's final errand and looks to him, "Is it anything we can help you with?"

Intrigued, Seldan takes the treat and examines it closely, then puts it in his mouth and sucks on it, tentatively at first and then with a smile. "A clever notion," he says once he has pulled it from his mouth and examined it again. Holding it does not appear to trouble him in the slightest, but Cryosanthia may know that cold does not trouble the paladin any more than it troubles her.

"Eluna does not demand that we offer any one greeting, but such is my wish for all of the Light, and so I offer it, when I may," he tells Irshya before turning back to the others. "I need to retrieve something from Master Mithralla, and I know not if he travels with us or no. I have need of that something, in either case." What it is, he does not say.

Irshya watches, with fascination, the creation of the cherry flavoured icicle. She reaches for the one, and tsks as a child grabs it and runs off. Her eyes watch another one get made, and huffs a little when it is offered to Seldan. "What is cherry?", she wonders of the Sith. "A... a fruit?"

Kira is eyed as she speaks, and the Gobbo nods. "Oh, Irshya not hungry today.", she says softly, while her stomach chooses then to growl and gurgle noisily. "Was curious. Kira is always smiling when she give bread."

She looks to Seldan then. "Is a good greeting and blessing, Irshya thinks. Good to see different faiths and their ways." She climbs up onto the lip of the Fountain, and settles upon her knees beside Cryosanthia.

"Can Irshya have one?"

"I should see about getting my seed back from Auranar, although I suppose I don't need it." Cryo muses as a reply to the details of the errand. She watches the Silver Guard eat the icicle with a grin, her tailtip wags, but the motion is kept contained as she's trying to keep it out the fountain. She suggests, "You should get some Oil of Slipperiness."

"Of course." The white sith twists, carefully going through the motion. A blast of cherry syrup-juice into the water, a quick cantrip that lights up the scales on her arms, then freezes a thick icicle as the Ray of Frost hits and penetrates the water. The icicle bobs on its side, she picks it out and hands it to Irshya, "Yes, it's a little red ball that grows on certain trees. Very sweet."

Cryo looks back at Seldan, "The oil is so the demon's whip can't grab you, it is not some strange secret need to watch you be oiled up by your mate." The sith wants to be clear about that, very clear. No ulterior motives at all. She stares impassively at the Silver Guard as she says it.

"Oh..." Kira acknowledges Seldan's words and nods, seeming to have some idea as to what he might refer to. Her smile wanes to thought, but further comment is changes when Cryosanthia mentions the seed. "Oh! I had thought to ask her of it, too," she admits, "if we were to venture to a realm of winter... but things have changed, and I don't think we are. If winter means stillness, or despair, or death..." this dims her smile further, but her subsequent words rekindle it," I thought the seed would be the opposite of that: spring, hope, and life."

From the temple of Daeus comes a blue-scaled sith-makar. His tall figure is easy to spy even across the square. He is carrying a bag full of scrolls and other items. It's impossible for him to miss the group that has gathered in the district, and so he moves toward it, eyes roaming over the members and lingering over a few. "Peassce on your nessstsss." He offers quietly, nodding to everyone gently.

Seldan has an easy grin for Irshya at the approval. "A blessing of the gods, heartfelt, is no bad thing, no matter its source," he agrees, but he stops in his tracks, icicle in his hand, to _stare_ at Cryosanthia at her words, a pink flush coming over his cheeks amid blank confusion, before all is erased behind an impassive wall. "A kind offer, but I would have you see to yourself and those ill-equipped to face demons first." he takes a step backward, and hands the icicle off to a child, and is about to say more when a familiar face arrives. "Zeke, peace upon your nest as well. You have all that you require?"

"Irshya thanks you!", the Gobbo says, eagerly taking the treatcicle from Cryosanthia. She seems to have no problem with the cold, and she spends a lengthy amount of time sniffing at the red icicle. Her facial expression speaks to her uncertainty of the treat's potential flavour. Irshya's tongue, blue and split at the tip, gently licks at the treat... and sticks to it. The Gobbo's eyes widen slightly, a slight look of panic as she tries to pull it away. "Aaugh ith sthuck!", she complains, before pulling harder, her tongue popping free. She squints at Cryosanthia a moment, but licks her lips, her expression changing to surprise. The treat is quickly shoved into her mouth, and crunched upon noisily.

"Some seeds need to go through a cold snap to germinate." Cryo says, then chooses the next bits of her explanation carefully, "It is a Fae thing, this one has no idea what it needs. Without its flesh, it might not grow at all. However, Fae things often respond to blood. If I, or Zeke, or both of us bled on it it, it could be frozen back into an apple shape. Then what might it do? Grow if planted? If She eats it, would She experience our suffering at Her hands? Would that give Her Empathy? Is it possible to add a thing that a thing never had, like the tail She seemed to be preparing Kira for?"

Cryo pauses in her thoughts, "The Shadowwalker yesterday said you thought Her redemption possible now, that She prayed for things? Is the piece of Her that is missing something that can be put back, or by Her nature was never there to start with?" The white sith looks up at Seldan, holds her hand up in a calming way, "thoughts only, not plans, Auranar has the seed but I wonder on things. As Kira says, it symbolizes life. It is a puzzle piece but perhaps not useful for this puzzle."

"I should have warned," she tells Ishya, "they are very cold."

Then all is forgotten, "ZEKE!" Cryosanthia jolts to her feet, then halts as if riveted to the spot almost as quickly. Vibrates in place, unsure about moving. She stares at the bluescale, then slowly turns her head to give Seldan a look, followed by an impish smile that grows as she looks back at Zeke. She asks in a very careful, deadpan way, "So... your suggestion is I should get it and Zeke should oil me up with the Oil of Slipperiness?"

Sabina emerges from the temple of Tarien with bird apon should, mask apon face and fan in hand. All is as it should be with her, seeing that she smiles. A new addition of a oval shaped buckler shield rides on her arm. It's surface as shiney as her mask and has the relief of Tarien's holy symbol enscribed apon it.

She notes the gathering at the fountian and offers a wave before turning her steps to head that direction.

Zeke nods to Seldan warmly wagging his tail back and forth at the paladin. "Thisss one doesss." He pats the bag slung over his right shoulder with his right claw. His attention is somewhat distracted by Cryosanthia, and then... Her words actually sink in and he looks at her with utter and complete horror written across his features. The scent of his fear is suddenly strong in the air as he stares at her like she's grown a second head. "Croysssanthia... Why.... why would you sssay sssuch a thing?"

He actually moves a step backwards from the group he has only just joined. Away from her. Zeke looks around at the people looking at him and subtly cringes. "Thisss one would not..." He stutters uncomfortably. "Thissss one would asssk not to do sssuch a thing. Thisss one isss not comfortable with sssuch."

Kira starts to nod with Cryosanthia as shares thoughts and ideas, even the talk of the oil seems prudent, at first. Then Kira blinks and her cheeks pinken at some of the .. non-innuendo(?). She notes the surprise of Seldan, and then Zeke, even as she tries to offer "Peace on your nest..." to him.

A long pause follows, before she ... laughs. "Cryo... you spoke with Tarien and his, more, didn't you?"

"Zeke does not travel with us, Cryosanthia," Seldan adds, coolly and evenly. "I have asked of him a favor that will keep him here. I would pray you offer such protection to those most in need of it, should it be needed, and use it not lightly. As to the matter of _her_, I think the demon to blame for the attack on her village, for how else would he have known of it with detail enough for such as the Guild job he offered? She has sought vengeance, and worked great evil in the seeking, but she is not wholly without emotion. I know not if she can be reached, but it is certain to me that the demon is not blameless."

"Binabina!", the wee Goblin calls out, hopping down from the lip of the Fountain and running over to the woman, to hug at her waist. "Irshya greets you! How are you?" Irshya peers over at Zeke, her eyes widening. "Bina, that dragonman has colours like me! Irshya pleased." She looks over to Cryosanthia, then to Zeke, and back to Cryosanthia. A look of puzzlement spreads across her expression, the small tail of hers curling behind her.

Sabina accepts the wet hug with a chuckle and gentle rubbing along the gobbo's back. "Hello, Irshya. And hello everyone. It's good to see you all again. It does look as if I've missed a rather rare moment, judging by Zeke's reactions. Peace apon your nests, Eluna's light guide you. Peace in your hearts. And may Tarien remind you al lthat smiles are best." She mutters down to Irshya with a grin. "Still working on Rada's.."

Her bird jumps off her shoulder and to the fountian where it sips. "So many here today."

"So the demon won't trip me with his whip." Cryo mumbles, sitting down heavily on the fountain rim, her tail splashing in the water like she doesn't notice. She can smell his fear. She closes her eyes and that's the whole world. It was just a dream. "It was a joke. And I haven't Kira, what would be the point."

Things are said, she listens, somewhat. Responds, "It sounds logical enough Sir Seldan. Maybe something will get through." Her eyes are open now, but her gaze remains fixed on the ground.

The blue-scaled sith's green eyes flicker around the group of people and he offers a low nod. "Thisss one ssshould ssset to the tasssk given thisss one. Thisss one did not mean to interupt." Zeke clearly feels as though he has, stepping away again he glances at everyone. "Thisss one wisshesss you all well in your journey. Thisss one hopesss that it goesss well."

Kira promptly steps to Cryosanthia and takes a knee next to her, offering, unsurprisingly, a hug. "I'm sorry, Cryo, that is what I meant: You offered us laughter. Something to fight the worries that all of us have."

"I ...." Seldan watches Cryosanthia slump to the fountain, frowning. "We can but make the attempt. Do we slay her ere the demon is defeated, he is unbound upon Ea, and that is not to be borne," he adds simply. "He must be handled first." He turns and steps closer to Zeke, notably not attempting to touch him. "You do not interrupt, and you are welcome. Mother is doubtless shopping." That last is said with a small, affectionate smile.

"It's okay, Sabina, you don't have to offer Rada's blessings. You follow Tarien?" The Gobbo is happy with the attention from Sabina. "Irshya got normal clothes. Also a swimsuit, see?" She pulls on the stretchy fabric which springs back with a snap. "It stretchy. Keeps Irshya decent so she can swim. Oh, Sabina! Did you know? People buy fish. Irshya catch fish today in the big, deep pool with the floating houses. Someone offer to buy Irshya's fish. Irshya have coin!"

Bina laughs softly to Irshya. "That is good! And yes I can see. You look good. But, a word of warning. Sometimes certian people own ponds like the one you took the fish from. They may call you a thief. Beter to catch from the river and sell them instead. Just to be safe." She looks over to the others and sobers only slightly. "You two should talk." She motions at Zeke and Cryo. "You obviously have things to talk about." Blunt much? She smiles and shakes her head.

The whitescale is unresponsive in the hug, stiff, and she doesn't reciprocate. She stands, lifting Kira with her, then gives her a light pat on the back. "There's nothing to worry about."

"You're not interrupting Zeke, this one has to go shopping too, and now goes. Nice to see you." Cryo starts off in a direction, perpendicular to the spot she had on the fountain. Away, not towards. It's about a dozen steps before the fiction that she is going to buy something kicks in, and she turns towards the Arcanist's guild. That place, even out of sight, is enough to halt her. She stands there, frowning also.

Zeke relaxes slowly at Seldan's words, seeming to settle somewhat. The fact that people aren't paying that much attention to him helps. He gives a half-hearted wag of his tail at the paladin. "Thisss one will meet with her sssoon then. If there isss no russsh." Off to the side, Cryosanthia rises and Sabina's words sink in. "We ssshould sspeak? About what?"

It seems for a moment that perhaps they are not meant to discuss anything at all, because the female rises to her feet and starts to leave, a clear fiction in her words that makes Zeke watch her in confusion, particularly when it is clear that she has no idea where she is going. "Cryosssanthia. Do you flee thisss one? Sssharing wordsss with thisss one? Let thisss one go if you are uncomfortable, do not make liessss." He steps toward her finally, seeming to make up his mind about something. "Though if you will - thisss one will ssshare wordsss with you."

Kira's smile turns concern as Cryosanthia remains so ...wooden. She looks from her to Zeke and back, and considers a number of things to say. After Zeke approaches her and speaks up, though, Kira keeps her own words simple and few and doesn't step after, herself. "You should speak with him, sister. It's long overdue, and I think it will do you both good." She offers this suggestion in a hopeful tone.

Seldan looks between Cryosanthia and Zeke, uncertainly. "Would you have me stay?" he asks Zeke, quietly. "I must run one more errand ere I depart, and would do so now, do you prefer I not." His gaze goes to Kira. "It is not overdue, if both are not ready to speak. Words will be shared in their time, not in the time we would have them be so."

Irshya watches the interaction between Cryosanthia and Zeke, her expression still very puzzled. She looks up at Sabina. "Oh? People actually own deep water pool? That is... sad. Irshya will pretend to not know and simply put the fish back. Unless she has eaten it. Can do that deep underwater." The Gobbo eyes Seldan and Kira, and then looks back to Cryo and Zeke. "Irshya think the dragonpeoples like each other. But not know how to talk.", she says softly to Sabina.

Sabina grins down at Irshya and shrugs. "be warned you could still get in trouble." She says softly to the gobbo. She nods then to Seldan. "You are right, Seldan. Words should come in their own time. But sometimes a nudge is needed. If I nudge at the wrong time I appologize. But normally you can only know after the fact. And sometimes if the nudge never comes the talk becomes so cold that it can not be picked back up again." She shrugs and reaches over to give a small pat to Kira's shoudler before sitting down on the fountian's edge.

Cryosanthia isn't moving, and it's clear she's heard, even if she has her head turned away so she can't see the group, and thus can avoid meeting Zeke's eyes. She can only avoid answering so long. Her tail tucks in. She grabs a handful of words, definitely not her most polished ones. "Yes, this one flees. I am waiting, I can wait anywhere, if you have business I will not interrupt it."

She turns her head even further, her hands clench up. "I am bad for you Zeke. I am not well, you are not well. I make you smell unhappy and afraid when I am playful and relaxed." She rips off her left glove, "Her mark, gone. This one had such a hopeful dream. But her machinations remain. This one can share words, but are we well enough to?"

Zeke looks at Seldan. It's a look that holds a world of words, but they're a difficult display to translate between sith-makar and one who is not. "Thiss one doess not wisssh to keep you from your necesssary roundss Ssseldan. You have much to do thiss day before your leaving. Go. Thisss one will be well enough." So to his words, he steps away from Seldan, and toward Cryosanthia. "Thisss one hass no buisssnesss here Cryossanthia. Thisss one iss only moving through to other plasscess."

Zeke takes another step toward her. "Thisss one isss glad that you are free of the mark, and... thiss one can not know if we are well enough to sshare wordss. Not until we try. Thisss one isss ready to lisssten. Thisss one hasss alwaysss been good at sssuch. Come. Let usss find a measssure of privascy and ssshare wordsss asss we ssshould."

"Alright," Cryosanthia says quietly, "Wherever you think is best I will follow."

Kira may well have been about to offer a counter-opinion to Seldan when Sabina speaks up. She turns her smile to the other woman and nods in confirmation, then looks to the two sith, still with concerned hope... or hopeful concern? Whatever it should be called, she is worried for their mutual pain, yet has only the best wishes for them.

The note of privacy adds a twinge of guilt to those thoughts and she forces herself to turn to Seldan and Sabina. "I didn't mean to keep you from anything, either, Seldan," and, to Sabina, "We should leave them be, so they can speak..."

"Do not stray far, for we depart with the sunset," Seldan tells Zeke, but before turning away, he considers Sabina. "And at times may such a nudge unwanted serve only to deepen the divide. It is a thing of Alexandrians that mystifies me, at times." He seems about to say more, but nods instead to Kira, and to Zeke. "I shall be about my errands, and return here ere sundown. Her light upon your path." With that, he makes to turn away, towards the journey up the hill where his business seems to lie.

"Rada's blessings upon you!", the Goblin calls out after Seldan. "Irshya shall pray for your journey to be a safe one!" She eyes Sabina and grins toothily as she settles down upon the Fountain's edge. Irshya immediately tries to occupy Sabina's lap. "So they will talk. Irshya thinks it good." She sits up and stretches out a hand to gently touch Kira's cheek. "Kira is sad?", she wonders of the woman.

Zeke will take her back to the temple of Daeus. They don't like the stone rooms, but they are private.

Sabina shrugs to herself but keeps her peace reguarding Seldans words. She does wave to him as he leaves. As for privacy to the two Sith she keeps her eyes from them.

The damp goob in her lap makes her chuckle. "I should wrap you up and carry you to the river. Toss you in to get us supper." ,she jests to the gobbo. "What do you think of that?"

Zeke glances toward Seldan and nods low to the paladin. "Thisss one will not forget. Thiss one thanksss you kin, thisss one wissshess you well on your effortssss." With this he motions for Cryosanthia to follow him back to the temple of Daeus which he so recently vacated. They can find some privacy there.

Cryo follows, without looking around or waving at everyone. She simply nods and goes with Zeke, into the temple.
