  • Summary: The now party of three (plus Ramirez!) recover after their battle with the vampyric plants. Mostly, Ramirez needs the most help recovering, and the group spends an hour rousing him. He can barely stand, so they take him back to the entrance and leave him with the singed-wing faerie, who promises he will be allowed to sleep undisturbed. The party of three (without Ramirez!) return to the water part of the hedgemaze. Aryia, the tallest at four-foot a little bit, will carry the small Luchts. She does so, and they come to the corner and pause. Something appears to be in the water, so Paenitia takes a wack at it. And another. And Another. Two frogs appear, in fancy livelry and tell her she is being very rude. Which, she is.

After their encounter with the vampiric plants, and Gadget's departure during with it, the party are for the most part unharmed... except poor Ramirez. The blood sucking vegetation had managed to put the poor thing to sleep, and worm its way into his feathers, draining a not insignificant portion of his blood, before the group were able to drive them off.

They find themselves deciding what to do next- no threats are apparent, but there is an unexplored corner just ahead, a corner that will requie wading into waist-deep bog water to traverse.

And neck deep at least for Luchts.

Aryia was sitting on her haunches as Paenitia was tending to Rameriez, her giving a slightly worried look to the bird. "Remember sleepy clouds. I will be okay if it happens. Can also carry someone over the water if need be." <Handspeech>

Now that the combat is over Pasi is once more falling more and more sleepy as the surge of adrenaline is wearing off. She reaches over to gently pat the great mount that has suffered so much. She catches sight of Aryia's hand motions and turns, keeping her eyes open as best she can. "Is that a language of hands? I... haven't seen... anything like that before. I... am sorry."

"Wake. Wake my brave Ramirez." The little Red Knight is attempting to rouse him, and while her mask is smiling the timbre of her voice suggests she is not. That she is very worried. She picks through his feathers, seeking lingering foliage that is still attached.

"He too big shift, and it not safe to leave him unwatched." Paenitia is too distracted to see the handsign, and pulling down her healing kit and examining it for something that... will untranquilize a horse. A bird-horse.

GAME: Paenitia rolls heal+2: (7)+10+2: 19

He's lost quite a lot of blood, but he's not bleeding now the plants are gone. So he is safe for now. Restoring him is beyond the Lucht's abilities with mundane healing - the only course of action is rest or certain magics.

He would regain consciousness, with some treatment, but he will be weakened for several days.

The Red Knight looks through her apothecary supplies. There's the 'clink' as she moves the bottles around. Silent, expression hidden by her mask, it's a little unsettling, normally she says something to keep spirits high.

"Tarien's little joke..." She mutters, then squawks loudly, just like a peacock. 'Ruaaah!'

"Ramirez!" She says teasingly, close to his head, overly happy. Her words a little too close together, "Ramirez! There a challenger to fight! Awake!"

He does not. There is barely a change in his breathing. He lies there.

The little Lucht turns towards the other two, "He is sapped, by the sap. I cannot treat. I might awaken him with a stimulant, but the fight will be gone from him. I will need the help."

GAME: Aryia rolls heal: (1)+3: 4 (EPIC FAIL) (Aid Another)
GAME: Pasithea rolls heal: (6)+0: 6 (Aid Another)
GAME: Paenitia takes ten on Heal+2: (10)+10+2: 22

Though they try to help, Pasithea and Aryia know precious little about humanoid anatomy, much less the anatomy of beasts. Paenitia's ministrations will have to suffice.

Help? Pasithea thinks for a moment and moves slowly about towards Ramirez's head and sits. she strokes the feathers and whispers into his ear, as if that might help him. Soothe him, perhaps but certianly not heal.

Aryia gives a little sigh as she wasn't seen. But it was alright, she'd rather let the Lucht knight check on her best friend. She gives a dismissive wave to Pasi, as if it wasn't a big deal. Though, at the call for aid, she gets up with a grunt and wanders over.

The elf's form of aid was... unorthodox. It's clear she's had no real training, but her being in many scraps has shown her some ways. Though, those ways do not translate to a bird. She lifts a wing to help. Then gets winged in the face. She pouts and bops him lightly on the head as if to say 'keep still'. That got a foot to the gut in his sleep and her launched back a couple of feet. She tumbles ass over teakettle backwards and just lays on the ground.

She deserved that.

"So, the healing ritual of Tarien take some time, and has the components." The self-proclaimed Paladina explains. Paenitia sets to work on her hippogryph, a task she seems well familiar with. She mixes some smelling salts, and something to pour in his mouth, as well as for his eyes.

The doses are of course, horse-sized.

It takes some time. A lot of time, an hour, with occasional jokes but mostly the Red Knight works in silence.

"He does not mean that," She apologizes for him after Aryia is sent flying. Eventually, the peacock-andalusian is roused to a shakey consciousness. He and Pasithea might compete for being closest to sleep, and Ramirez drifts back and forth over that line as much as she does.

"Ramirez, a little walk, then you can lie down." She looks at the others, "We take him to where the entrance was, as the little ones to watch him sleep, he need his nap after playing. This the good idea?"

Aryia finally gets up with a groan and rubs her stomach. She nods at the idea. "It's fine, I shouldn't have smacked him," the elf gestures before stepping out of the path to make way for the horse-sized bird. <Handspeech>

Pasi gets up and pats the hippogryph yet again. "Yes... I know the ...feeling, Ramirez. You...will feel better soon. Just shoo... the pesky heavy blankets...away." Heavy blankets? What the ...

As the party backtrack their way towards the entrance that was (but is no more) at the beginning of the maze, they spy a somewhat familiar face. She's hard to miss, because she has singed wings. She's sitting on one ofof the thorny vines, sniffling, and munching on a grape-sized fruit that takes up both of her hands. When the adventurers return, she squeaks, and retreats further into the thorns, peeking out from over them. "What do you want?" she asks, cautiously.

GAME: Paenitia rolls diplomacy: (14)+7: 21

"My friend, the brave Ramirez, he tired from playing with the flowers. The game is done for him. He want to sleep here," Paenitia says, turning to face the singed fae, "this okay for you? He does not snore, you will be happy with his company and let him rest?"

The Dark Lucht sounds serious, using a firm but supplicating tone. There's a slight nod of her head, "I give the apology, for your wings. Our companion did not understand the game. She is gone into the hedge now, and will not bother you."

Aryia bobs her head along with Paenitia. She makes a shooing motion, then holds a hand up to her eyes as if to shield it from the sun, searching, before giving up and shrugging.

"The thorns ate her?" The fairy says then, and peeks out a little further, craning her neck this way and that as though to peer past the adventurers and perhaps see the offending party hiding away behind them. "...good. She was mean." she says then, and slowly extracts herself from the shrubs. She rubs her eyes, "Everyone is napping. They're tired from playing with you. The big bird can nap here, too. The meaner things stay deeper in the maze." she eventually offers, still seeming quite cautious, but relaxing somewhat once her fears of being magic missiled again are allayed.

"Okay." Paenitia says, sounding relieved and making a small bow towards the small fey, "You honour us with the hospitality. We go see what we can do about the nasty things."

Straightening up, she first gets Ramirez into a comfortable sleeping position. Mostly, he moves himself, but she understands and employs leverage well, getting the large bird-horse to lie in a way that won't cause cramps.

After which, she removes a few things from his saddle and equips herself. Her shield, her cold iron warhammer, her lucern hammer and her bow with some arrows. Shield and bow are set to her back and she takes the pole-arm in both hands. "Yes, she vanish into them. She push and scream and then she is gone from sight. The hedge get her and her monkey, we find no trace."

Hopefully that assuages her, although the Dark Lucht sounds mildly worried. Mildly. The wizards fate is a problem for outside.

The shadow elf, nods, sighing a little bit in relief that Rameriez can rest, but now it was down to the three of them. She rubs her hands together and rubs her shoulders, looking ready to get back to delving deeper into the maze.

With Ramirez in the... well, at least benign, if nmischevious, care of the pixies the group continue to press their way onwards, coming to the edge of the swampy waters. It's murky, with various floating weeds growing upon the surface, and looks to be deep. The edges of the water are muddy, and the thorns making up the walls of the maze do not suffer for the water- they extend below its surface, making vicious barbed snags for anyone thinking they might slip underneath.

Rubbing her chin, the pugilist gets an idea. She reaches behind her back, fiddling around with some cords that go up her arms and over her shoulders and reconnects some leather cords, then unclasps her cloak and ties it off on the cords.

She gets the two Luchts attention, makes a motion of picking them up and putting them on her shoulders before pretending to walk into the water.

Paenitia laughs, and well her mask is always a wide stylized grin, although she sounds cheerful enough, "You are not the Brave Ramirez but I am ok to be carried."

She has her lucern-hammer ready, which could serve as a balance rod in a pinch or even a walking stick from Aryia's shoulders.

The little Lucht gestures at the corner, "It look dry there, maybe that far. Oh, you can take us both? Okay!"

She laughs again.

GAME: Aryia rolls acrobatics: (6)+11: 17

With a small, silent grunt, Aryia picks both Luchts up with ease (she lifts a lot of boxes all the time) and places them on her shoulders. She steps into the waters, wading through some before pausing. A glance is stolen down before shaking her head and slowly yet steadily sloshing forward.

Paenitia holds onto Pasithea, keeping the sleepy sorceress steady if not awake. She watches the water for ripples Aryia hasn't caused, and the hedgerows.

<OOC> Thurid says, "Alrighty, the shore here is a bit steeper. DC15 athletics to climb up it without slipping."
GAME: Aryia rolls acrobatics: (13)+11: 24

Climbing down the swampy bank was tricky- climbing back up proves to be trickier still, but aryia is able to make her way up, extracting her feet from the slick and sticky mud beneath the water and making her wya up. To the soth- more hedgerows. The swamp extends a ways on this side of the hedgerow, but to the right and left? More dead ends.

GAME: Aryia rolls perception: (18)+12: 30
GAME: Paenitia rolls perception: (12)+4: 16

Paenitia holds on tightly and tries not to shift too much as Aryia climbs the slow. She resists her instincts to ride and guide the Mul'niessa too, even though her reactions to weight shifts are well ingrained.

Once they are on dryer land, she peers at both ends. It seems to be empty hedgerows, "I do not see the aggressive topiaries. How it look to you?"

Aryia looks about, her checking both ends before her eyes settle on the water.

She blinks. Then roughly sets both Lucht down on dry land and jabs a finger at something in the water.

The Red Knight nods, and seeing that the sleepy sorceress is out like a light, moves her to a secure spot where she won't roll into the water or the hedges. After which she turns, gripping her lucerne hammer in both hands. "I strike the water, see if that enough, and back up if it follow me out so you can get at it."

She's ready to do as she said.

GAME: Paenitia rolls weapon9: (5)+7: 12
GAME: Thurid rolls 1d100: (23): 23 (high)

The Red Knight makes a big splash, "I miss the fish."

She raises the Lucerne Hammer, "I try again."

GAME: Thurid rolls 1d100: (32): 32 (high)

Sploosh!

Splish!

This could go on all day.

Paenitia is hitting a lot of water and not much else.

The Mul'niessa is getting splashed by droplets.

Every time the hammer went down, Aryia's stance dropped further, and her eyes narrow at the surface of the water. Watching. Waiting. Tensing for if something got shot at her, or them. She tries to use her body to block. The water splashing against her makes her flinch, toying with a loaded cross bow. Ready to loose and intercept something mid-flight.

At the last of the splashes, still not hitting anything, a creature suddenly pops up from the water- five feet to the left of where Paenitia was going to down with her pole hammer. "Mighty rude!" he calls out. The thing looks much like a frog, but it is wearing a waistcoat that seems to be made of woven-together fronds of pond weeds, with little snail shells for buttons. Another pops up, back the way they came- while the first is green, this one is red, and both have a pearlescent sheen. "Mighty rude." he agrees.
