A Ladle Help, Please

There's a cry of alarm in one of the rougher sections of the city, a place used to the dangers of city life. Tonight, however, people flee from the Spicy Ladle, running for their lives. The tavern itself is small and usually quiet, attracting fewer patrons than some of the other, more boisterous centers of entertainment in the district. Most people run for safety but there are a few here and there who go for help, trying to get word relayed to the adventurer's guild for help.

The at help comes in the form of Veloria and Arisha, the two most quickly on hand, with a warning to handle what they can and try to contain what they cannot. With the danger to the city teetering on chaotic, there's no telling what one might expect from the random incidents that spring up across the city.

Arriving at the tavern, the place is mostly quiet now with a few onlookers, curious from blocks away. In the doorway, a body lies strewn with wounds in his back. From the inside, a few sounds of banging can be heard, but little else.

And this is where Arisha is leading the way in....once she sees the body, she unties and unholsters the pistol she has with her left hand. "Welp....looks like we've definitely got one." She says softly as she tries to make sure if the person is okay...or dead.

Veloria follows in towards the tavern and she says to Arisha, "Let me bless your weapon. These demon attacks are much easier with divine power aiding your cause." She nods to the breastplate and says, "I'm not sure if your side has the right kind of power - no offense." They didn't have time to be polite about things so she just gives her offer with a finger ready to bless whatever weapon is offered to her.

The body is definitely dead and upon reaching it you can see that the wound in the back goes deep, all the way to the man's heart. Inside, tables and chairs are in disarray and towards the back of the room there's a portly man sitting on a door to the cellar with a splintered bar atop it. He glances back to the adventurers and says, "I've got some trapped in here, but I don't know how much longer the door will hold." At that there's another banging and the wood lurches outward, the man with it. Several more continue to pound against the wood. "The other monsters have fled. It was all I could do to bar the door!"


Arisha Holds out the pistol to Veloria. "I may carry a Khopesh, but I'm not quite proficient in it's use yet. the intructor I have insists that I try to cut through things with power. I'm trying to find a new instructor." She then sighs a bit....and looks to the person at the door and nods. "Run for it. We'll take care of it here." She then looks to Veloria. "You can handle yourself, right?"

<OOC> Veloria says, "I'll use align weapon on Arisha's pistol."

<OOC> Arisha says, "Set it for good, hun. :D"

<OOC> Veloria says, "Sorry, bless weapon. Domain spells."

Veloria gives a slight shrug to her shoulders. "I do alright, though not nearly as well as I'd like. But against creatures of hell, I do have an edge so I'm confident we will do well. They cannot last against the power of Kor." She wields her own weapon, a morningstar and sets a finger on Arisha's gun, praying to her deity.

<OOC> Kailin nods.

Just then the wood on the bar begins to crack and then it splinters against the pounding beneath it. The doors fly open and the rotund man is sent spwarling as fleshy, bloate frames just over four feet tall spill from the cellar. Four of them find their way out, free from their imprisonment and not eager to return anytime soon.

Veloria sees the dretches andimmediately tries to ward her and Arisha off from them. She prays to Kor for protection from the evil creatures by the lory of his name and holds out her holy symbol, imparting the power to keep them at bay.

As Veloria uses her blessings to keep the dretches at bay, Arisha levels her pistol at the closest dretch. the sonic boom of the bullet is deafening and manages to graze the dretch. "I'm gonna have a bit of trouble when they get close. Can you defend yourself?"

Veloria prays again and a battleaxe appears in the air, shimmering as it hovers behind the dretch that came at her. "I do okay... We'll see, won't we?" The axe swipes down and cuts into the dretch in its back, but barely scratches the surface. "I can heal well enough. That may have to do."

Seeing Veloria in trouble, Arisha takes a deep breath, and levels the pistol at the dretch. Not completely confident in her aim, she pulls the trigger anyways, and hitting the dretch on the neck.

Three of the dretches continue to struggle against the circle of force erected against them while ther other attacks the cleric, but cannot get in a strike, especially when it takes a vicious strike that wounds it.

Veloria holds her morningstar close but does not use it as the hovering greataxe takes down the demon with a greater chop of its blade. It drops and Veloria breathes easier as she prays again, giving herself and her allies a greater chance against their foes.

Seeing the one dretch down, Arisha pulls back the hammer and turns her attention back towards the first dretch....and shoots it in the face.

Veloria motions towards the dretch just outside her circle and the flying greataxe obeys, darting that way and twirling to cut the dretch down where it stands. Veloria meanwhile directs her prays to her own weapon as soon it will be necessary to engage the enemy. She barely holds on against the cloud of gas released, keeping her stomach in check by a hair's breadth.

Taking a deep breath before the cloud reaches her, Arisha stil manages to fire a round at the dretch that did it. The round hits the dretch in the chest too.

Veloria lose it after barely keeping hold of her stomach the first time and she doubles over, vomiting on the floor in front of her. But rather than getting out of the cloud, she suffers through more of it while they have the safety of their circle.

Arisha shoots the last dretch, and walks over to make sure it's down before she goes back over to Veloria....and tugs her out of the cloud. No need to make her suffer longer than she has to. "You okay, Veloria?" Of course, with the way she just helped Veloria, she'll definitely notice that Arisha's left arm isn't natural.

Veloria stumbles out of the cloud, but the nausea persists and she turns her head away from Arisha so as not to get any of her fluids on the inquisitor's clothes. "No... but I will be..." She waves a hand to try to indicate her status as good, despite the fact that she looks awful. "At some point, anyway..."

Arisha makes sure to nudge Veloria onto a chair...and to put a bucket under her face. "No choice but to let it pass." She says as she begins to clean her gun....at least to get part of the residue out.

With the dretches slain, the rotund man comes out from hiding and though there are dead to attend to and massive damages, the owner of the Spicy Ladle seems thrilled. "Thank the gods for your help! You two can drink free here any time!" With that he goes out the door to try to gather help frmo the citizens nearby to help with the mess and destruction. Unfortunately in this part of town, he finds very few...
