The local Mages' Guild sits in uproar from recent events. When Rune's fall became official and with many of their members abroad, local members stepped forward to take the reins. One among others rose to the challenge--Madam Gelfure, who has set about re-establishing the guild in Alexandria with the force of her personality, if nothing else. Her move was necessary, and swift, though it's obvious that Alexandria hasn't had time to adjust as other nations have.

Currently, the newly restyled Society of Progressive Arcanists has severed ties to Rune until or if that nation may sort itself out. It instead is based around Alexandria and attempts to be largely non-political. So far, it has avoided direct confrontation with the Academy. The distance has put a strain on its resources, however, which forces the Society to work more with local officials and tradesfolk.

Though Rune has fallen, the local guild has attempted to keep up with the ban on necromancy. When challenging these edicts, Alexandria has its own history (the witch Altima) as well as Taara's recent rise and subsequent chaos to consider.

The Guild, however, has received some aid of late from an unexpected source: the sildanyar. Among the world again, the elves are making themselves known and have sent a delegation to aid the local guild, as well as to provide a limited set of teachers and instruction. Eluna's faith, always strong within the Academy, has along with Navos made a resurgence. With Animus' fall, their mages and priests have been called upon to fill the gap left by Animus.
