From Tenebrae
Tenebrae's Geek Corner is a place to share favorite books, authors, series, video games, RPGs, webcomics, music, artists, and content designers. What's current, and what's written will vary based on our community's current thoughts and interests.
Favorites featured don't need to be by someone famous, or they could be. This is completely up to you, as part of our community. Use this page to share thoughts on something interesting to you, or comment on something someone else shared.

I Took an Arrow to the Knee
Skyrim is a game about heroes. It is also a game about the adversity that heroes face. Like taking an arrow to the knee.

Worlds of a Maasai Warrior
One of my favorite books, it's written by an author whose native language wasn't English. He follows the path of Amy Tan, choosing simple but meaningful words, and his story comes across clearly and beautifully. He tells the story of his childhood among the Maasai, and his first encounters at the missionary school. He wanders between the world of the Maasai, the local white establishments, and even travels to the United States to receive a degree. This first-hand exposure to contrasts puts him in a unique position to write about the Maasai for the English-speaking audience.

Uncharted 3: So Much Potential
While technically excellent, Naughty Dog lost something in its third iteration of Uncharted. The game is loaded full of collectables, explosions, one liners and unique set pieces, but the unclear story and a technology first outlook have tarnished this PS3 exclusive gem of a franchise. While the story opens up the history of the relationship between Sully and Nate, other established characters are used lightly, and things are alluded to with little exposition, leaving holes in the narrative. Whether those holes are to be filled in the PS Vita game, or simply left unexplored by the employees too busy working on ‘Golden Abyss’, or ‘The Last of Us’, I will just never know.
It is still a great puzzle platforming 3rd person shooter, but this title isn’t worthy of the ‘Indiana Jones without a whip, or copyright infringement’ title that the first 2 earned in spades.
