Special Materials

From Tenebrae

Special materials are just that. Special. Away from the norm. Tenebrae has an open policy towards special materials, that they are available through roleplay and storytelling.

What Sorts of Materials are Available, and Where?

All of the below locations are located ongrid. This doesn't mean that they cannot be found in other locations (such as Veyshan, Dran, and so on), just that these are readily available areas. Details about these areas can be found in the Alexandros page.

Material Type Where It's Found
Adamantine Found as scrap within the ruined outskirts of Merkabah, ancient mines within the Red Ridge Mountains, and old Genrivian battle sites.
Alchemical Silver Happy Valley
Cold Iron A unique method of forging iron, this may be negotiated with khazad smiths and patrons of Reos.
Darkwood Deep Woods, and trade with Am'sheri or members of the Ygdrassil Union.
Mithral Within ancient mines within the Red Ride Mountains, and found among sildanyari and khazad smiths. Other deposits may be found within ancient Sildanyari and Khazad ruins around Alexandros (see Alexandrian history)
Spirit Armor only, does not violate a druid's code. Part of a ritual involving calling an elemental and negotiating with it. Available to active members of the Ygdrassil Union. See Equipment for a description.

How Can I Attain Them?

There are two ways to attain special materials. One is through simply asking, though the other is through involving others and crafting a tale. Because we're a storytelling MUX, we offer a 20% discount on materials purchased through the second method.

What Sort of Storytelling?

Questing for materials must happen ongrid, and it must involve other characters besides your own. Basically, we're looking for you to tell a tale that involves:

1. This is the beginning of my story.
2. This is the middle of it.
3. This is the end.
4. This is how I involved other people and made it fun for them.

This isn't a PrP, in other words. It's really just you getting together with friends and others for roleplay. Whatever you do, make sure the adventure is fun for others--ie, even though your character is on a quest doesn't mean it should be all about the one character, and staff may revoke the discount for this.

Example: Tam is interested in finding some mithral. He roleplays with his friends on the grid. During roleplay, he brings up a rumor about an abandoned blacksmith's shop. Then, he gathers a group of friends and they roleplay exploring the ruins, and finding the material. Battered, but usable with a little work...
From here, he submits a +request to staff (see below for the details of what Tam would have included).

So How do I Let Staff Know About It?

Send us a summary of the quest via a +request, including who you involved and how you involved them. We aren't looking for an essay--two paragraphs will do. Alternately, you may post a log of it to the website and provide the link.
