Dramatic Time

Dramatic Time (aka Dramatic Travel Time) is our way of being extremely loose and flexible in regards to player plots and also everyday roleplay on the grid. We have a decent grid that represents a large area including the city of Alexandria and the lands around it, but we understand that sometimes changes of locations are necessary and that it should be done easily without needing a DM standing over your head. We've come up with fantastic locations and descriptive theme so there's no reason why these locations should not be used by players. Though some locations will remain off-limits due to theme and DM reasons, the vast majority of them will be open and we will allow players to run PRPs there or even do daily Rp there as they see fit. Basically between Airship travel, the existence of guilds such as the Wayfarer Foundation and more, it shouldn't be a big deal anyway for people to be in different areas from day to day.

Between this and just plain being flexible, it should be feasible to rp in any location you can come up with without being stuck off-grid. Want to barter in the bazaars of Tashran? Care to arm wrestle a Dranei in a tavern on the edges of Dran, bet in the gambling halls of Vandalheim or dine in a cafe overlooking the falls of Bryn Myridorn? Go for it. There will be some exceptions to this rule, however, mainly where related to DM plots.

DM plots will supersede any form of Dramatic Time. If you take part in a DM plot and that DM says that you are to remain off grid for a certain period of time to represent the passage of time and to control information flow then you must remain off grid and comply with that DM's wishes. You may not engage in Dramatic Time without the express permission of the DM.

In general, DM scenes and PRP scenes take as much or as little time as deemed appropriate by those involved. Most PRPs are assumed to have taken place in a type of 'void' space, so to speak, while DM plots may or may not require you to actually be off grid to represent the passage of true time as it relates to other plots that are also happening. The main purpose of this is to skip to the good stuff and invoke a sense of exploration and fantastic locations.
